Quick question for those with knowledge and experience. I hang out mostly in the 60 forum and know nothing about the 4runner series. Have an opportunity to buy one from a coworker. 2003 95k on the V6 and she is the original owner. Price seems right. Anything specific to watch out for on these? Low mileage toyota seems like a no brainer but like I said I really dont know this series. I would be using it for DD with short commute and general grocery grabbing duties, plus maybe a little a light off road (sand dirt trails) when the 60 is down.
Any advice greatly appreciated

I had an 03 V8 and I would fully recommend that truck in every aspect.

I did buy my daughter a 2005 Runner with the 6 cylinder back in 2006 as a graduation present thinking it'd be a safe vehicle for her to travel with on long road trips. Well, it's 2015 and she still has it and loves her 4Runner. I think she has about 200K miles on it by now and the only trouble it gave her was at about 120K she developed a slight transmission shudder at certain speeds on the highway (55MPH). I swapped the fluid and put some conditioner in it (one time, three years ago). I'm not sure if they have the same tranny but it'd be worth a look.

She hasn't had an issue with it since but apparently it's a pretty common problem. Fuel mileage is pretty good and the interior space is decent. The tight handling and it's "mid-size" are a huge plus.

Hope that helps.

No problem, appreciate the input. I will look into the tranny issue.

Watch out for a leaking timing chain cover, thats a big job and some of them leak.
Thanks hoping to get a good look at it and test drive today. Appreciate the input.

Look into T4R.org for more pointers and things to look for. I say go for it,i love 4runner too.

Thanks for the input and the website.
