Sad but have to sell my LX470 landcruiser. Lots of work and love has been put into this SUV. Many good trips in this awesome car. Used as my daily driver (SF to Berkeley) and Tahoe trips. The LX Only been to Ca, Nv & Utah.
Please read the entire post as this is only for a mechanic builder, full disclosure below. Some major work is required.
Car is drivable at this time only with differential lock on !

When we came back from Tahoe a few months back, near Vallejo, going uphill, LOST POWER. Pulled over and waited a few minutes, put in reverse - No power, in Drive the same. Than I pushed in the differential Lock on the Dash. Works fine in all gears but have to keep under 55.Drove home.
Took to corner garage - no codes.
Called Lexus - wants open ended payment to tear down
transfer case and let me know, I declined.
It’s most likely the front differential which will need total rebuilding. It has a leak on right side CV seal.
Other suggested the transfer case actuator & seal. (2nd. Suspect)
Due to my busy life & job I had to buy a replacement daily driver, 17 miles each way. I work 46 hours a week and don’t have time to deal with fixing the LX. I wish I could keep it. It would be a great project car. Work on current issue below and preventive and you have an awesome ride.
The LX starts on a dime and is drivable at speeds below 55.

This was my daily driver since 2015. I bought it from a silicone valley ceo, it had around 105k. Since I purchased it I Did all the services and preventive services. Major service will be due in 10k @ 185,000. Timing chain, Differential fluids, transmission and Transfer case fluids, etc. All of this was done @ 138k. Both CV axles were changed same time (Note: right cv axle seal at differential leaking). Offroad was driving on dirt roads in national parks and to trail heads.We are skiers and drive to tahoe 3-5 times a year at ease.no problem going up the sierras. It’s a really nice ride.

Obvious issue -Front differential or transfer case needs rebuilt
CV right side at differential has a leak at the differential seal
Has the usual power steering leak needs both lines changes
AHC - not working needs delete. Been tested by toyota pump failure. Was working and was flushed at 116k.
Timing belt & water pump replaced @ 95,000 will need replacement
Leaks? Other than power steering
