Good morning. New to the forums and to the 100 series. I am looking to purchase my first 2001 Lexus LX470 Base. Currently, the screen in the vehicle is cracking and discolored. I have read that replacing it with a more modern head unit would be quite a hassle if it has navigation as the AC is controlled through the screen. Do all LX470 with a screen have navigation? Or is it possible it has a screen but is non-navigation? There appear to be AC controls at the bottom of the center dash. At the moment I am just going off pictures and will see the vehicle in person tomorrow. Pictures below.

I appreciate any information on this matter, plus anything to look for while checking out the vehicle tomorrow.

So those aren't climate controls on the bottom, just rear blower + defrosters. The screen has your navigation + climate controls built in.

The screen already failing isn't ideal but it's not a deal breaker if the price is right and the vehicle is nice... Do some looking around on ebay, you will have to replace it with a working unit or roll the dice on a knock off aftermarket.

Also, I found some folks who can repair those as well, do a Google for repair / refurb services to get an idea of cost.

Again, not a deal breaker if the vehicle is otherwise well maintained, but definitely act like its the end of the world and knock a few grand off the price tag =]

Vehicle looks good so far, plastic on the floors though? Is this at a dealer or private seller? Cover popped off of the neutral safety switch near gear shifter, did it get towed recently?

Get under the vehicle and look for rust. Look for any leaks up front but the skid plates may prevent that. So pop the hood and get a flashlight in there, look all around for any signs of distress.
>> Any maintenance history? How many miles and what is the price???
>> AHC suspension is known to have issues / fail eventually . Test it's functionality
>> Test center diff lock . Test 4low
>> Timing belt done? Radiator look good?
>> you can put the VIN into Lexus website and if it's been dealer serviced you can see the records

Guy to ask about cost to fix
