Fixing up the new-to-us farm truck, bought for $1000 with a bunch of known problems.

The air temperature adjustment knob didn't turn smoothly, previous owner used to just manually shift it to HOT in winter and COLD in summer. I decided I'd be all fancy and see if I could make it so I can change the temperature while driving. Somebody had broken the control knob where it meets the cable, OK, let's add that to the list for the next trip to pick-n-pull. Cable sticks, but adding some oil fixed that and it slides smoothly now. The lever that the cable pulls or pushes moves, but not freely. This is the lever on the heat blend box (wrong term?) under the dash, behind the lighter.

OK, I should pull that and grease it up. Tips for getting to it? I'm looking for an FSM but don't have one yet. Looks like the lower dash is going to have to come out, what else?
