Recently, my truck has had trouble accelerating (acts inhibited and stutters as if going over the ridges on the side of highways). The check engine light has blinked on and off and now has remained on constantly. Along with the VSC, VSC Trac lights. When on the freeway at higher speeds, it seems to be fine.

Initially, I was told that it could be a sign of low transmission fluid. I checked that and it was indeed low and I put a quart in. It seemed to fix the issue but the truck has returned back to the original problems. I checked the transmission fluid levels again and they are where they need to be.

What has thrown me for a loop is that I recently had all 4 tires replaced and previous to having that done, the truck was driving perfect. Upon getting the truck back, the issues started. It is odd enough that I have wondered if the guy who put the tires on might have done something either knowingly or unknowingly to compound the problem. I would love any help or insights people might have. Thanks!

Maybe ABS sensor. Before anything else, read the CEL codes.

I say a coil pack needs replacing.

well since were all guessing, and these things come in waves, APPS

Flashing cel indicates a misfire...
Scan for fault codes.

x2 on the failing coil pack

I am in agreement with the others, get the codes scanned and then report back.

If you don't want to go the techstream route, then invest in an inexpensive OBD Code reader. You'll thank yourself later on. Trucks this old are going to throw codes often enough you'll get your money out of a $50-60 reader.
