Hey guys! So I've got a question for you all. I've owned my rig for about 4-5 months now! When I flip on the heated seats they turn on but after heating up they seem to shut off for about 15-20 min. And then they will come on again. Is this cycle normal? Or is there a problem?

I searched the threads but could not find anything!

Let me know!
Thx

I've noticed the same thing with mine. I'm sure there is some sort of built in cut off safety feature after being on for a certain amount of minutes, kind of like the rear window defrost. So I'd assume this cycling is normal.

I couldn't find a thing in the FSM, wiring diagram book, or owners manual about the heaters cycling. Mine is an '01 LX, so it may be different than an LC, but I doubt it. Wiring diagram book shows no cycling circuit.

FSM indicates 'Low' setting should get the seat to 25-35C, and 'High' should get it to 35-45C.

This time of the year, my seat heaters stay on continually...no seat of the pants  indication of on-off cycling.

In the 'High' setting, it cooks my butt within 2-3 minutes.

I notice the heated seats in my LX cycle on longer trips... or maybe I just get acclimated to the heat? I guess we need a thermometer to verify. In any case, I wish the seats got hotter.

Mine do the same thing. Stay on for a few minutes then stop.

Mine do not cycle, either that or I don't notice it. There is nothing like sweating to death on the trail when all the Jeep guys are in complete misery.

45*C = 113*F!

For real, sometimes when it's hot out my lady likes to quietly turn mine on and wait for me to start sweating balls. I'm not a fan of that trick

Now that so many people say theirs cycle, I'm wondering if I just don't notice either... If it does cycle, it sure doesn't lose any heat.

When she does that, reach down under the steering column and adjust the AC sack-vent and say, "ahhh, that's better."

yeah and that's pretty much directly on your boys  I only use it on low as I'm only a fan of chicks having a hot ass, not myself. :princess: always uses them on hot though and neither of us have noticed any cycling.

gotta love the sack vent. almost as good as the wing windows in my pickup with no AC - straight shot down the shorts and i'm :bounce:

Well I'll be damned, there is a sack vent on this truck! Just when I thought I couldn't like it any more than I do already!

. LOL!

I have this vision that a Japanese engineer had an experience with the ladies caused by excessive heat and did this for all the men who make their ladies drive LC or LXs. Comes in handy in Houston!

Mine seem to cycle too, but some days it's more noticeable than others.

The sack vent is actually a baby Jesus hiding in the air vent. He has one of those misty fans with fairy dust to comfort you

I'm not insulting a religion...

Funny, my 99's heated seats seem to do the "cycle" thing yet I don't recall that being the case on the 2002 I previously owned.

In any event, heated seat > no heated seat!

I have noticed cycling in my '05. Cranks right up and burns my ass. I get acclimated to it, but I am sure it starts to cool back down a bit. I usually shut it off and back on an that does it.

I have a suspicion that the cycling effect is not the way it was designed. They should come on and stay on at a predetermined temp until you physically turn them off.

The passenger side of my 2001 LC will come on and get real warm and toasty, but just as you start feeling it, it will shut off.

The drivers side comes on and stays on at a constant temp until you switch it to low or off. I have dismantled and cleaned the switch on the passenger side but that does not seem to help in my case. I have a theory that the reason my passenger side is not working properly is because it probably has a lot more hours on it. Albeit accidental hours.

I didn't own my truck the first 8 years and 130k miles so I'm not sure how it was treated. But in my mind I can see a passenger switching the seat heater on then getting out and not turning it off. Since the driver is not feeling the heater in the passenger seat, it just keeps running until another passenger gets in and notices or the driver happens to notice the lighted switch. That could be days of driving. When the driver side is on, there is a constant reminder on the seat of your pants to turn it off. That's why I feel like my passenger side has a lot more hours and probably why it cycles.

I wish someone would figure out why it cycles (or cuts off completely) and design a repair.

We have this issue in our 98 too. Annoying. Would love to keep the seats toasty longer.

HA!

I'm just glad that I wasn't crazy and that this is a re-occurring problem for a few folks lol!

... and i concur someone find out how we can fix this! My a$$ gets freaking cold after skiing
