I really like my Land Cruiser but there are a few things that really drive me nuts. One is a rattle that comes from the undercarriage in the back when I go over bumps. With the windows rolled up I can hardly hear it but when down it is very noticeable. At first I thought is might be that the spare tire was loose but had it tightened up and noise persists. Wondering if there is anyone in the OP area that might be willing to help me diagnose?
I am just imagining strapping someone under the car and you driving around.....
My first solution is to invest in a better radio. Subwoofers can cover up lots!
If it is over a bump, I would suspect exhaust is tapping a heat shield or shocks are out.
Get under the car when it is cold and grab the exhaust and try to move it in a circle... Do this in a couple different spots. Get strong and do it hard as it can put up with you pulling.
FYI, I saw a guy take a camera and tape it to the undercarraige and take video with sound, drive around then reveiw. Then move it over and repeat. GOPRO camera is best, but I don't know of anyone with one.
Thanks for the offer RTB falcon. I'm going to take 2fPower's suggestion of inspecting the muffler. I'd be really embarrassed if I had you drive over only to find it was a very simple fix. I reserve the right to hit you up if that does not fix it
oh and let me know if you want my trailer hitch for your truck. If not, i'm going to toss it. Kinda sad because its perfect. Just dont want it in my garage any longer. OK done with the hijack...

So I had this same issue and after many frustrating debug sessions, I mentioned it to my mechanic and the next time he had it on the rack he looked at *everything*
Mine ended up being a missing break pad clip on the driver side. I guess when I went over a bump I must not have had my foot on the break and the pads were jumping... YMMV
