Well, since I bought this car earlier this year, I´ve been slowly fixing it and making a few upgrades. From day one, the old owner warned me that there was poor contact on one of the fuel pump wires (most likely the spill control valve connector), and if the engine didn´t start I should "move" it a little bit to make it work again.
Since that, i changed the connector and the car was running great.
Untill last week, when the car just died in the middle of the road. Tweaked the cables.... engine worked for 10 more minutes and then died again. Since that I was never able to make it work again. It cranks but never starts.
I´ve researching a lot on this forum (and other places aswell) to try to find a solution, but while doing that I realized my car has a few modifications that I can´t really understand.
This car was imported to Brazil from japan, so it was originally a right hand drive car. It was swapped to a left hand driver car, so all the electric, wires and etc are a complete mess that I am (slowly) trying fix.
I´m checking again all the wires and connectors again, and made the car work one time for like 20 minutes before it died and never started again. The obvious answer would be that there is a problem on the wiring, but I realized that something is odd on the fuel pump connections.
- The two connectors on the side of the pump (beige and grey) are not connected to pump (and have never been). They are connected to something that i believe is a pressure/vacuum switch while the wires go to an aftermarket relay installed on the engine bay.
- Diagnose port is missing the Te1 pin, so i was not able to read any engine fault codes.
- Checked and cleaned the Spill control valve but the problem remains.
Should I check the ECU for blown capacitors? Was planning on doing that, but my ECU is located on a really hard spot, almost impossible to get to unless I remove the entire dash/panel.
I´m attaching a picture of the connectors and relay I mentioned.
