2000 FZJ105 Instrument Cluster upgrade query

G'day all,

One query I have (and so far unable to confirm) is whether the 10/2002 onwards instrument cluster would be a straight swap with the existing unit in my 2000 FZJ105.

Here is a pic I borrowed from another IH8MUD thread (https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/led-instrument-panel-gauge-cluster.409313/) whilst researching this topic to illustrate the back of a 2001 model UZJ100 cluster which I believe is the same as my 2000 model FZJ105 cluster.




And here is the back of a 07/2003 cluster that I am looking to buy




And the front of the 2003 cluster...




So my question is, does anyone know if this is a straight swap - or is there more involved to make it work, or is it even possible.

Any comments advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

[edit] After some more digging it seems that although the plugs are the same, the wiring is not. Can be done but way too much involved at this stage my liking.

I didn't , the newer upgrade clusters communicate with CAN bus (read digital) whereas the pre 2002 upgrade models are analogue. I think this means either a complete wiring harness swap or some serious electrickery. Either way its too much work for my liking....
