I'm a little sad to sell this truck, but I had shoulder surgery and can't clean the snow off the trucks for a few months and need a smaller SUV (looking at a GX… gotta still have a Land Cruiser in the fam) for my GF that will fit in the garage, so i am motivated to sell it quickly.
I am the 2nd owner of this 100 series and bought it in Southern California 9 years ago. This truck was a grocery getter in So Cal by PO, and I have used it mostly for road trips and getting into the backcountry. No rock crawling or hard off road use, and most non-highway driving has been improved dirt roads. No smoke/smoking in the vehicle. I have a binder with all service records.
This is the most comfortable vehicle I have owned for long drives—presumably because of the weight and how comfortable the cabin is, plus cruise control is always a must. This is also a confidence inspiring winter truck, as it is glued to the road and the AWD system in the truck always keeps you in your lane and in control. It is so much fun in the snow and you know you will always get to where you're headed (and back home again) regardless of the conditions. I am always happy when my partner drives this in the winter because I know she'll be safe and she'll make it home (and she loves driving it too). I carry a snatch strap... to help other people who have gotten stuck.
If you know anything about Land Cruisers, you know the engine on the old girl is just breaking in. She runs smooth and consistent and loves a long drive. This truck has been the single most reliable vehicle I have owned. Just about all service in the past 6 years has been performed by State Automotive and Cruiser Outfitters.
With the ARB drawers in the back of the truck, the 2nd row seats fold flat into a full sleeping and/or cargo platform. Combine this with the ARB awning off the passenger side and you have a fantastic camping platform that has served us well for so many bike, ski, and backcountry trips, as well as family camping over the years. Aside from swallowing most of your camping equipment or offroad tools below your main cargo area, the drawers also provide a safe, lockable place to stash valuables at a trailhead that is completely out of sight. The passenger side drawer-top is a fridge slide out with Mac's Tie-Downs for easy cargo and fridge access.
The driving combo lights (driver spot, passenger flood) light far down the road or trail, and also light up the shoulder so you see any animals thinking about making a run for it. The lights are tied to the high beam controls—so when the combo lights are on, when you flip the high beams off they also turn off for late night drives on small roads.
I have a couple projects in the works:
—There is a SLEE 2nd battery tray and ARB compressor under the hood that I have not gotten wired, or gotten the 2nd battery for yet—but tray and compressor are ready to go. I also have compressor switches and wiring loom, etc.
—I have an auxiliary light mounted under the rear of the roof rack (and also a couple additional auxiliary lights not on the truck) that haven't been wired up yet.
—I have a set of 18" Tundra wheels with BFG KO2's in great shape I'll include. Wheels are in great shape but I wanted to powder coat them before putting them on and haven't gotten around to that yet.
The bad— there isn't much to say. She is a 23 year old truck so there are some nicks in the paint (although it looks great after a wax). I was planning to paint it in the next few years. I wanted to pull the Gamiviti rack off the roof this summer, and hit it with a wire wheel and then repaint it but didn't have time... if i don't sell it I'll do that next summer. I have some nice looking seat covers on the front seats, because there have been a lot of butts in and out of the truck over the past 23 years. The faux wood grain could be replaced (kits available on ebay around $25) and make the cabin look brand new, if that's your thing). The center cabin light needs some wiring love to work with the wiring for the roof-mounted DVD player i took out. If you wanted to replace the DVD player the wiring is all tucked right in to the headliner.
