Really? My FJ60 is still going strong at 220k and 24 years, and My FJ40 is going nicely at 37 years an unknown # of K. If what you say is true, the 200 should last like 200 years. Maybe that's how they pick the designations.
Shotts, do you seriously think your 100 will be tooling around in 25 years? If nothing else, the scarcity of fuel will will be the end of it, and all of these trucks. I for one, am quite curious to see how long the complex electronic computer controls will last. My guess is that all of the late model trucks starting with the 80 series will get rapidly to the point where the electronics can no longer be fixed. I do hope that Toyota has a nice stash of ECUs for the future.

I have been driving my friends 2008 Sequoia for the past 2 days. Very nice vehicle, but here are my observations.
It seems VERY large. While driving it, it feels like my 2007 Yukon Denali XL. Just very long,big and wide. I am not sure of it's actual dimensions, but that is the way it feels.
It seems to sway more then my LC. Not as tight on turns etc.
I have a hard time seeing everything out the windshield and side windows. Don't know why...just a weird feeling.
Obviously I am biased, but I like driving it for a family vehicle. But with my very limited off road experiance, I would have a hard time navigating it off road. It seems to hide it's size from the inside view and therefore I would
have a hard time judging angles from inside.
Plus sitting in the drivers seat, it just feels HUGE inside. I feel like I am drowning in the front area.
I will stick with my LC![]()
Thanks for the feedback on the Sequoia (which is what this thread is supposed to be about).
I really like the new LC, but I have to justify the huge cost difference.
Both can be people movers with 3 rows of seating if need be, same engine, etc.

Worth more to some, not to others. It all depends on your own personal priorities. If you don't have any long-term ownership plans, and the truck meets your functional needs, and you just don't have an irrational itching for that legendary "Land Cruiser" script on your tailgate, then get the Sequoia. If you are in the other camp, then get the Cruiser with no guilt. FWIW, Land Cruisers are passed on to family members in wills. Sequoias... aren't.

For most US buyers? No way. That's the main reason the Seq outsells the LC by a huge margin. The Seq does the intended job superbly, it's larger, has a much better 3rd seat, in the end it's a better DD-people mover than the LC.
At the same time you do pick up more for your 20-30K than just reliability and off-road capability if you opt for the LC.
Do keep in mind that unlike the last Seq, Toyota is stating right out of the box that the new Seq is not meant for trails and off-roading. If you think you may want to do some of that make sure you consider it it up front. Otherwise you'll be imited to the typical car-quality dirt roads.
The other reason for the popularity of the Sequoia in the US is that it is marketed. Not that it is marketed well or poorly, just that it is. I have never seen an LC commercial on TV.
I would imagine that the opposite s true around the rest of the world.
Or print media ads, either. But I open some older issues of Australian 4WD Monthly and I see 100 Series ads all over the place!
