The updates are getting few and far between these days. Who knew that work and kids gobbled up so much time!
The latest one is splitting the factory dual batteries into 1x starting and 1x auxilliary/deep cycle, along with the installation of a Redarc DC-DC/Solar charger. Really happy with how it turned out, particularly using the nifty Long Ranger charger bracket which sits behind the grille.
The batteries, charger and bracket are all Australian, so not sure if they're available in the US, but no doubt you can get them via eBay. ARB sell the Redarc chargers and Long Ranger brackets in Australia, but not sure if they sell them in the US. Anyway, here it is:
Article w/video: LandCruiser 200 - Dual batteries and DC-DC Charger - Project 200
Hello, I read the entire article. Thank you for posting the details. Can you comment on the voltage output of the 200 series alternator? I'm hearing the alternator won't put out the voltage (above 14) to support charging AGM batteries to their fullest extent without a diode. IBS has an article on their website that says they'll be including a diode with their isolating kits for markets such as Australia. I believe you wrote the alternator also puts out 140 amps. The alternators in the 200's here in the US are 180 amps but I believe we too suffer with the low voltage output. Is this one of the reasons you went the dc to dc charging route?
