So, tell me why you guys think a slightly used/pampered 2023 LX600 (instead of a smoothie-maker engine 250 or a light duty GX550 Prados) is (or is not) a good replacement for a 200? This would be for the occasional road trip offroad once or twice a year and the other 70% on road duties. I have been following these in the used market and deals can be had at around $95k for an F-sport or $90k for a basic premium with no AHC. Can the 200 crowd pass that stupid nose (in black of course) and bear the Lexus badge leaving the stealth-wealth behind? I am particularly interested in the opinions about the engine failures with the 22s too. Will that spill to the 23s and 24s? School me, please.

I have put about 26K miles on my 24 LX600. It is a fantastic road vehicle. Much quieter than my 18 LX570. I am thinking that most of the engine issues have been or will be resolved in short order and it is my understanding that those with the affected engines have been notified (I am not certain about this). I still have my 18 LC and going back and forth between them is an interesting experience. The 200 is a tank. The LX600 "feels" to me to be light duty in comparison but it is probably because of the much lighter steering and the fact that the LX600 is considerably lighter than the 200. I like the new GX550 but I think the LX600 is in a different league than both the new LC and GX.

Thanks for the input. You have best of both worlds by keeping the 200 and upgrading to a 300 at the same time. Have you tried any off-roading with the LX?

No off-roading in the LX600. It just makes the drive between OKC and North Texas weekly.

I hate to say it but honestly think a Tahoe with the 3.0 liter diesel is a pretty enticing vehicle until Toyota figures out the 3.5TT
Funny you should mention the Tahoe. A day or two ago a guy came up to me and asked how I liked my LX600. He said he had an Denali and that people told him that it would start rattling behind the dash and other places after about 50,000 miles and that his was starting to rattle and was thinking about a new LX or GX. I don't have any experience with GM products in the last 20+years so I have no idea if that is a normal issue. I know that Suburbans used to be great travel vehicles.

on the LX600 you will miss the sliding 2nd row and the split gate

Like @jefo13 said “on the LX600 you will miss the sliding 2nd row and the split gate.” These are the only 2 things I wish to get back. Other than that IMO the LX is far superior to my 2011 LC, and I don’t miss it at all.

Go test drive a 600 and see how you like it.

I still have a '15 LX 570 and greatly prefer driving LX 600.

We have my '23 LX, a '21 Denali and a '15 LX. I traded in my '21 AT4 Yukon for the LX600. GM products are not good. We have four kids and have had Tahoes, Suburbans or Yukons for the last 11 years. They rattle everywhere.

The only thing keeping my wife from getting an LX600 is that she really likes the cargo area behind the third row - though she is now considering dealing with it and just getting a Thule for the roof for road trips.

FWIW, I still like the 2015 LX570 but the LX600 is really in another league. I'll give the 570 to one of the kids when they start driving in 5 years.

I did and, although impressed, it was nothing that wowed me to be honest. The only thing that I feel would be very useful is the lane keep assist for road trips and (maybe) the head up display when compared to my 200. What I am really afraid is that stupid nose and the offroad ability of the LX. In the past, it used to be that LC and LX had the same prowess for offroad, but at some point, in one of the LX refreshes that nose kept coming larger and larger and all went to s*** for the LX. For example, I did most of the Colorado passes, some AZ trails (broken arrow, etc) and Death Valley all in the LC (which is stock, except for the OEM strut lift and sliders). I am not 100% sure the LX would make the same trails and emerge unscathed. I actually doubt so, now that I think harder.

Have had mine for 50k miles, on road, off road. Have also owned a 100 series, four GX's, and enjoyed a 200 series for a bit.

The 200 is a tank, feels like one. But my LX is quite capable off road, and unless I'm in waist deep mud or trying to rock crawl, the LX handles everything quite well.

It is the best road trip vehicle I've ever owned, and still feels and looks new after 3 years. Totally would be comfortable buying a used one, and the aftermarket is catching up with lifts, sliders, racks, etc.

The 600 has less mid row leg room than the 570.

They aren’t invincible, mine has a rattle in the rear hatch somewhere and having to take it to a different dealer now since it just comes back. (I probably could fix it myself).

I run it in Hi1 mode now and I think the suspension is better sorted that way, sits like a stock 300 too. Took me a while to figure that out. Also looks pretty tough when its dirty.

I may get a 700 OT, I have one on order.

So, when you set to H1 it just stays that way, or you have to raise every time you start the truck? Would you mind sending a side picture to compare with the 200/300?

It will stay at the selected height but the truck will lower as you drive faster… h2 to h1 at 40, h1 to n at 65. As you slow down it will raise up again.

It also compensates for added weight too. I loaded 500 lbs of parts for work in the back and the system kept raising up as I added more weight. I think the guys from dissent said it took all the extra weight from their show vehicle with no problem… front bumper, winch, sliders, roof rack, rear bumper with swing out, drawer system. That thing was loaded up.

It drops to N at 65. Just hit the off button on the center stack so it wont reset anything.

I have less offset wheels (wider), but they are a hair shorter and a dedicated street tire. Still looks good in Hi1 when its dirty. I will have to clean it one day and evaluate it that way.

H1 doesn’t raise it that much. More commanding look in my opinion.

For those wondering:

L: -1"
N: 0
H1: +1"
H2: +3.3"
Extra High: +3.8"

‘22 F sport here with 20k miles. Been flawless except for that pesky engine recall that hasn’t happened yet. Also have a ‘16 LC with 64k miles that feels as tight as the day it was delivered. The two feel so different (the LC being the tank) but the LX is much more comfortable and responsive on the road. Steering might even be too light as it feels like driving a compact suv and not a 6000lb tank itself.

Thanks for your perspective by owning both of them. It is in line with what I've heard from others and makes me want to keep my 200 even more. I do not mind and actually like the tank feeling the 200 has, which looks to be different than the 600 with its lighter and more nimble characteristics.
