"No doubt a 200 will last as long as you cared to drive it. But while I was standing in that factory outside of Toyota City in Japan, it became clear that Toyota is bringing thewrong truck to our shores. Between the few 200 series units that I saw rolling out of the factory, many more of another type of Land Cruiser were being built. A vehicle so loved that even the most impassioned Land Rover owner will get a glimmer in the corner of their eye. They were building 70 series wagons and pickups, and by the lot full. It seemed they could hardly keep up with the demand. There were 76 series wagons rolling off the line in abundance, with the occasional 200 in the mix. Toyota needs to, actually, Toyota MUST bring the 76 (link) to North America."

Now that Toyota USA will be in Plano maybe they could get there asses out of their offices and come to Crawl. I will be more than happy to drop by everytime I am in town. I have a great Lexus store within a stones trough of new location.
If I were toyota I would keep the LX mall crawler, soccer mom ride and do a 70 series for Toyota. You want the pampered princess go with the Lexus. You want a real truck go with the Toyota.

Funny you state this b/c in many of my markets the Toyota stores have same owners as Lexus stores (most are next door) and they don't order/stock LC anymore. If someone wants one they will send them to Lexus for LX since the LX out sales the LC.

According to one sales guy in Memphis he has had a few customers test drive the 200 then walk out with 2 4runners for about the same coin. Kill the 4Runner and rebadge it a LC like they do in other parts of world.

Not 200 thread appropriate: but why, on Earth, is Toyota not building a stripped-down, Scion-badged, 2-door, removable-top 4WD. A modern Samurai or Blizzard...$20K range...basic...for the 16-25 year old that can't afford a new Wrangler. Modular with lots of Scion aftermarket poser stuff.
I've NEVER seen anyone argue against bringing the 70s to the U.S. market...just good arguments as to why it will never happen.

What's reasonable price on changing diff oil in front and rear diffs? Toyota dealer wants 420 bucks. Seems high...real high.

That's rediculious. Come visit me, buy a bucket of 90wt on your way for about $50 and we will have you back on the road in about 30 minutes. (I included a few minutes to enjoy a beer after the work is done).

I got 5 gallons of gear oil. I just was trying to avoid crawling under my truck on my back.
I'll do it for $375.
