200 series brake light question (1 Viewer)

2008 lc, Are the outer brake light bulbs, or leds? Replaceable or do I have to replace the whole housing etc? Its like a c shaped array of light on the outer rim of the housing. Sorry for the stupid question, but pulled it apart and questioning what’s going on in there.

I haven’t messed with mine, but I’d assume if there isn’t an obvious way to remove a bulb it is an LED array.

I have read reports years ago of tail lights going out at random. Very rare, but not unprecedented

I have an 08 as well. Just had to replace the lift gate light housings. One was getting water in it and reverse bulb had blown. The break light in this is an array.

I looked at the outer housing and appears no easy way to change bulbs.

A tip if you are in a rusty area or just the age of our vehicles is to check to see if you can get that lift gate light housing off. Three black screws hold the posts to body. My other one the nut had seized on post. Ended up cutting post and replacing housing on that aside too.

Thanks for the input, looks like I’m ordering a new light assembly. it should last another 250k miles….
