It is amazing to me, the huge number of pigs that have been hacked on by unskilled butchers. I just happened to find these two on Craigslist tonight and it is sending me into fits! Both in Norther Cali and they are not mine. So I am posting to let you all know that these are for sale but also wanted to start a discussion about hacking up pigs. When is it ok? Why do so many do it? I mean go find a jeep cherokee to torch for god sake!

I think the second is Harry Apple's

I would have to agree. My roof isn't the best and my rear window is inoperable but I just can't get excited about the look of the "Avalanche" trims which seem to be common. If I was to cut the roof because the rust was so bad I'd rather just cut it all off and add a roll bar.

it is ok when it belongs to the hacker; just like it is ok for me to shoot my guns on my property during daylight hours, even tho my neighbor thinks otherwise. stop inflicting your values on me...

I went pick up some 40 and 55 parts the other night. The seller had this sweet rig. It was done really nice. The top section has steel pipe on top, so it's nice and smooth. The pipe was welded to the shell, then filled in I am guessing, I am not a body guy. This is a real clean setup.

This one is interesting and well executed. Shortened wheelbase and lost rear doors but at least they capped the "bed" area. Seems clean but why not get an FJ40 or a Bronco/Blazer which were made for this. It just does not seem to make a more functional or a better looking rig. I will admit that some of the members of this forum have posted some pretty daunting pictures of rusted out roofs which I could see saying, "F this" and hacking all the rust off. There are also some well done convertibles and "Avalanche" style LC's here so don't think I am totally opposed I guess it just hurts to see pigs with the pig backs removed...

Haha.. just saw this. Yeah, that one is mine. It's a freakin' mess. There is NO value left in the body other then as a wheeler/beater and so I thought it would be different to cut the top off. Didn't really like it, I think I'm keeping the body now and I'm actually going to take the top off all the way to the windshield, and build a cage since it's going to become a wheeling only truck. If it had not been a rusty POS of a body, I would never have considered chopping it up. But the body was too far gone as anything to restore... so I had fun with it.
