2 burner stove

Anybody have any experience with this stove:

It looks rock solid and pumps out 35,000 btu per burner. The cooking surface on each burner is 12"x13" so it will accomodate a large pan and pot at the same time (often an issue). Construction is 20 gauge steel with cast iron burners and cooking surface.

I have also looked at the camp chef stuff which is very nice as well.

All comments welcome. I am looking for a stove to have in my kitchen box that will mounted on the m101 trailer.

That unit looks like it would get pretty hot.


I bought a camp chef 3 burner set up from Costco a few months ago. That puppy throws out some serious heat. Camp Chef gear is pretty versitile too. The downside is that it's heavy and too bulky to haul along in my 80. It's perfect for hauling along with my tent trailer though...which is the main reason for my getting it.

What's the price on the Camp Chef from Costco?

Do you know which model it is, and Batu's per burner.

Stove is going in the trailer. I was thinking that if I splurged on the empire Superb 2 burner unit it could double as my outdoor burner at home once I build my new outdoor cooking center. Everything must be justified to the boss :D

Not sure if I really need three burners and the space it will eat up.

Anyone have thoughts on needing the RD burner.

I also have the Costco one and it works awesome for large parties. But like Doug said, it's heavy and bulky. The Costco one was something like $149 and is rated at 90K Btu over 3 burners. It's tough to cook on my little 10k Btu coleman after getting used to this.

The cool thing about the Costco stove is that it has a built-in lower shelf and you can get optional side shelves.

If you want a 2 burner, camp chef also makes those. The windscreen is almost a necessity at times. I'm positive you could buy the 2 burner for less than MSRP.
 
I like the Coleman too. Travels like a suitcase. And coupled with an adapter for 20lb. propane tanks, it's great. Easy to clean too.
 
Btu are only 10K per burner on the coleman's vs 30-35K on the camp chef or Empire.

I have a coleman as well white fuel and propane. Try boiling a big pot of water with the coleman for some corn or potatoes. You better get an early start.

But granted they are time tested, light, portable and get the job done for most applications.

Very true. I have the meager 10K BTU Coleman and it takes forever. They do have this one that's 30K total.
I may have to upgrade depending on more input from this thread.:flipoff2:

That will give you a 50% increase in BTU's per burner to 15K but still only half of what the other will put out.

The downside to the Empire 2 burner professional is that it doesn't have a box it closes into and no wind screen. For my application this will not be a problem as it will stow in my mounted kitchen kit on the trailer and I will build my own folding winds screen.

Start looking at the price per BTU. Just like gearing in you LC you really can't ever have enough BTU's. The only thing to make sure is that the variable valving on the control knob is sufficient enough to give you a good low and simmer temp.

Yep. Hoser's got all the info there.
Mine came with a cast iron griddle/"grill pan" as well. A nice bonus.

Now I need to get a camp chef bag so I can haul it around...I'm using the original box and that's just not cutting it.

That's what came with my AT trailer...each burner on my double is rated at 10K btu...I was thinking about calling them to see if they had a 20K to 30K upgrade. Sheesh...10K is barely enough in the home kitchen...throw in some wind and cold and you really want for more.

I found that too. Just like the Colemans.
The only "big daddys" I've found are the Empires that alf found initially, Camp Chef, and a few Cabelas models(which look sort of fragile to me).
 
The thing about the Empire is it looks rock solid. I will have to see if I can go see one locally.

I have a two burner Camp Chef Riverunner. Propane fuel with bottle adaptor, stainless and aluminum. 14 lbs and totally rust proof. 35K BTUs and makes my old Coleman seem primitive. A great stove.

Colemans have always worked fine for me, even at altitude (10,000+ ft). If there is a difference in time boiling water, I haven't noticed it, but when I'm camping I usually have a minute or two to spare anyway.
 
43lbs!?!:eek: A monster. But certainly stable.
That's the Cabela's model I thought looked fragile. Those 3 tiny pipes going to each burner look like they might bend/break if mishandled or if someone other than you uses that bigger pipe as a handle.

I wonder if you could tear the burner out of some of these beefier models and rig them into a "suitcase-style" Coleman.:confused:

Considering the weight of that cast iron, I can only imagine those tubes snapping one day:doh: ...and you're out in the middle of nowhere eating your spam and baked beans cold.:mad: And no coffee.:crybaby:
