I wanted a hitch bike rack, did some searching and decided on the 1UP rack. Just got and installed it - very happy.

Neat modular design so you can have it setup for just one bike or add a second bike. Very easy and fast to pop a bike in and out.

Nice construction - fits right in with a Land Cruiser.

Minor speed bump is that my factory hitch is in the back bumper and so it's higher than your typical hitch. So my tailgate won't lower. Think I'll need a simple hitch drop to work around that.

Regardless, I'd recommend this rack to anyone looking for a hitch rack.

Agree 100%. 1UpUSA is like the Land Cruiser of bike racks. I ditched my Yak/Thule roof rack for one. LOVE it.

Looks great. Also very solid.

I looked at those a year or two ago for our sedan, but decided to go with a Kuat.

Thanks for the reports, need to get a better hitch mount rack. I know the Kuat is nice, will look into 1up for sure. Is it 2" ?

1.25" or 2" unless you want the HD version for 4 bikes. That one has to be 2"

I've got the Kuat NV as well. When no bikes are loaded you can fully open the tailgate, and with 2 bikes loaded (I only have the 2 NV, no add on yet...) you can tilt it down and open the liftgate portion. All bikes need to be off to open the tailgate.

I can drop the 1Up with 4 bikes on it - to open the window (or close it... 'cause I forgot to close it before putting all the bikes on... again). But, it helps to have really light bikes on there ;)

Has anyone used the 1up rack with a BIOR rear tire carrier?

Hi-
I'm thinking about getting a 1Up bike rack. I have the same receiver hitch in the bumper. Does the tailgate hit the rack, even when the 1up rack bike tray is folded down? Thanks for your time.

I will answer my own question. The 1up rack is slick and sturdy. But with a tire carrier a hitch extender must be used if your bike has wide handle bars and to fold up nicely.
I ended up going with the Thule T2 works great with my Salsa Bucksaw.

I've been using my 1UPUSA rack for over 2 years now. In order to be able to open the back window, I keep the fourth tray inside in an ARB drawer. It takes about 5 minutes to pull out and reinstall or remove. There are a few 1UPUSA posts on mud for someone interested in researching. The rack is expensive but worth it when hauling around 4 bikes worth more than the Landcruiser itself.

I like this rack. But it's spendy. Until I can afford one, this is my "git er dun" rack.

I have a 2x4 with a 15mm through-axle bed mount bolted to it, kept back by the tailgate. With the smaller 2nd row seat up, my Santa Cruz fits in nicely. Would not work if you have drawers, third row, or have the truck loaded with stuff. But it gets me to the trails, keeps my bike inside where it won't get hit or stolen, and was CHEAP.

Thanks for sharing the pic. I have the 2004 integrated receiver hitch option that is built into the bumper. I just learned, the tailgate will strike the 1UPUSA, when it is mounted to the integrated receiver hitch. If I had a bolt-on receiver (under the bumper), I think the 1UPUSA would be a great option. I currently have a couple of Yakima trays that I have mounted up top. I was just looking for an alternative to having to fight with the process of getting an all mountain/enduro bike up that high. I have a 6-bike North Shore rack for bike trips that is amazing, but overkill for regular use.

Anyone have one of these and used it on Dissent high clearance bumper? Interested in getting this rack just wanted to see if it will clear swing arm/tire carrier.

Thanks

My fear with a front bumper mounted rack is that my love of bikes would lead to me rear-ending another car - focusing on the bike and not the road... "Hmmm, do I need to recable that rear deraileur... did I do that last fall or BAM!!!" ;)

Will this rack fit with a spare tire underneath? Are you using a locking pin?

Yes, fits with my spare tire underneath in the original spare location. It's got a clever locking ball so no locking pin is required - see their website for details.

Thank you for the quick response. I have been waiting for 1UP to respond (I know they are slammed). Appreciate the help!
