Hey all, I'm getting the pieces together for my own Landcruiser Chinook project (heavily inspired by the very missed TWR Matt & Stacey).
I'm planning my drivetrain and I really want to go Toyota turbo diesel. My thoughts are 1KZ-T mechanical engine.
I'd like to go the 5 speed R151 or R150, but I'm not sure what's possible. Is anyone familiar with these? Is it possible for me to get the offset rear pinon I'll need for an 80 series axle pair? I've found this one that seems to be what I need, but these seem to be pretty rare, and they want an arm & leg for it.
I love the H55F and split case, but as far as I can tell, it seems near impossible to put it behind the newer K Diesels. Not entirely sure though..
What are general thoughts on putting a diesel in the chinook? Is there an easier path? I would go 1HD-T, but it's tight for space with the short engine bay. Manual transmission is preferred, but I could go auto.
Thanks for the help and insight! Working on putting up some youtube content of the whole thing. Will post the link here when I get it posted
