Well, it sounds like the 1KZ-TE is a better way to go than the 2L-TE.
At least you get a little more power. Overheating and head cracking seems to be a trait of both engines though. I'm not up to an engine swap so may try the KZJ78 here in the near future.

unless you are getting a GOOD KZ for a real bargin why are you considering changing one time bomb for another?

Yet another reason to install a good quality stereo with good speakers. You can turn the volume up to drown out the "tick-
tocking" sound emited by the 2L-TE.:):):) ....1978HJ45

Just because the LJ78 fan club can hold their annual meeting in a phone booth does not mean we don't deserve respect.

Why are you not upto an engine swap. I did. Best thing I ever since.........since ......since............no idea;)

The 1KZ Remember!

OK you big girls!:rolleyes: I think this was my thread. Remember we were talking about the 1KZ. Crushers, my 2L-TE is not a time bomb anymore and from what I can gather neither is the KZ with proper care. Life is all about compromises and to drive this particular model you either put up with the engine or do a swap of course, which i don't have time for..... gotoy.
OK it's time for that fan club meeting.... where's the phone booth?

would it not be easier and cheaper (time is money) just to sell the LJ78 and purchase a KZJ78?
 
Actually Wayne, I'm thinking of having two. The KZ would be for the wife. She loves the LJ for all it's functionality ie barn doors, seating for 7 skinny pass. etc. but I was hoping to have one that would be more reliable for long trips south. I've looked at the HZJ73's but they don't have any room in em.
Haven't made any decisions yet, just lookin.:hhmm:
 
the KZ and the PZ run close, very close, to the same purchase price.
actually a clean KZJ78 can cost almost as much as a clean 81...

just sayin ...
but it is your money so what do i care.
