On the right hand side on the revcounter there is an engine sign and a red led.

The red led on my 1kz rev counter stays on.

Does this mean anything?

The engine seems to run ok with no issues that I know of.

Yes, it means something.

You need to retrieve the codes and then solve the issue. Google how to read codes, or look at the 1KZ engine manuals that are online and go from there.

can be a alt/V regulator failure . ?

The batteries are still being charged at a healthy 13.8 volts with the engine running.

Today I'll try clearing the ECU fault codes by removing the fuse for 60 seconds.

I think it the turbo light< check your turbo

Yeah sound like the turbo light, that must be triggered by the turbo pressure sensor at a guess, although I thought the sensor was something do with the pre-heat thing :D

If so its by the inlet manifold near the powersteering top up bottle, assuming its a KZJ70 or similiar.
The 1KZ-T has no ECU, do you mean the 1KZ-TE?

Yes the engine is a 1kz-te.

Read the online manual which I had downloaded. The ecu fuse was removed for 60secs, no difference.

Turn engine on and let it idle:

1. Engine runs and the rd led is on.
2. Drive and the led goes off.
3. Drive hard hard and the led comes on in any gear.

Could this be the turbo sensor you guys have mentioned as above? I know which where it is, just to the front of the engine on the manifold; a 3 wire relay type device.

As mysteriously at the red led saga came, its dissappered.

A few loose wires were found on a fuse by the mechanix.

If I accelerate hard past 3000rpm, the red led will come on again. Normal or not I have no idea.

Vehicle seems to drive as good as ever.
