Hey all,

I'm needing to replace:
  • Water pump
  • Fun clutch
  • Timing belt
  • AC compressor
I found a kit online for the water pump and fun clutch, (Online Auto Parts | Car & 4X4 Parts - Right Fit, Right Price - https://www.onlineautoparts.com.au/product/zpn-33524-water-pump-fan-clutch-amp-fan-blade-kit?srsltid=AfmBOopsE-dZ50sCG8Duzevhcy7Ww9VMF3uIo2Qh-XJbCz2TFV_nnkrK) I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Tora parts?

OR

If you have any suggestions on where to source these things. I started at cruiser teq but it looks like they're out of stock. Partsouq is pretty expensive. Any insight is appreciated!

-I have always used OE water pumps and I would try Kurt/cruiserteq first
-replace the fan clutch when it goes south.
-OE timing belt, spring, and if not done in a timely and know range the tension pulley.
-don't forget the cam seal.
-AC compressors can be serviced locally- try that first. If the magnetic clutch is bad they can be replaced.

have fun w hz/hd tension spring if your first time with 1990-1998 versions.

Thank you for the info. I heard that spring sucks hahah I've seen a few videos so far. I wonder if there's a tool that could make it easier...

On second thought, I'm not so sure I need an AC compressor. The belt broke, and I initially though it was BC the pulley on the compressor was going out. I think now the issue might have just been a loose belt.

Maybe one of you guys can tell me if this is normal...

VIDEO OF AC PULLEY WHEN AC ISN'T ON

spins pretty nice and free. Doesn't look like seizing to me.

VIDEO OF AC PULLEY WHEN AC IS ON

Difficult to rotate but not that bad... I'm not sure what level of resistance is normal. The AC was blowing cold until the belt broke. The tech who charged my system told me the pulley was going out and sprayed it with lube. My guess is it wasn't rotating bc the belt was slipping maybe and the lube didn't help.

When the ac switch control is rotated on dash when engine is running an electric charge engages the clutch on the compressor and is locks so that the belt will spin compressor and circulate the freon. Otherwise, the pulley should spin free when engine off or the switch off. Clutch is available as own part and uses a cork like friction disk to hold it down. The compressor is just a pump and the service parts are pretty common and can be bench rebuilt in many urban centers. As an aside, the vacuum operated "idle up" circuit works in tandem on the injection pump with a small diaphragm moving the throttle arm forward increasing the rpm of engine to compensate for the load of the compressor belt on the engine. You will find a switch with in and out vacuum small lines and electrical lead over on the left side of engine near the pump.

Have 09718-20010 listed in my notes as the SST for it. Think OGBeno posted a picture of one at some point in some thread.

But bloody knuckles from the several attempts to get it seated are a right of passage.
