The 79's get the 1hd-ft, the wagons get the 1hd-fte with the electronic pump.

Pretty sure they're 1HD-FTE. I don't know anyone who owns one so I can't check, but there wouldn't be tuning chips available if they were mechanical.

Yeah you're right looking at the ones for sale on carsales. I wonder if there is still something different because all the conversions to replace the 1hz use the 78/79 series motor due to there being less wiring with the pump (so they say). I know of a few hunjy's that have elec gremlins but the 78/79's don't seem to suffer.

They might be using a mechanical pump in the conversions. An electro-ectomy to convert a FTE to an FT.

There is less SECURITY wiring, still a 1HDFTE

Out of the factory? Hmm, or did someone in Japan turn it up before you got it? I have seen posts or 5-9 psi reported after installing a boost gauge.

"Turn it up" how? :) I'd like to think I'd notice that.

Factory wastegate, no shims, no threading of the rod, no MBC. Installed gauges pretty much right away and saw 10.5 psi.

Then the mods began.....

I guess it could be a function of age but I've never heard of gassers experiencing gradually increasing boost as they age. I can just imagine all the confused people suffering from fuel cut at 15psi with bone stock cars that were only supposed to be boosting to single digits.....
