Update:

The block, head, and crank are still at the machine shop.

The head casting checks out fine. The precups were all cracked to the point where they could have caused issues in a running engine. There are corrosion and wear issues with the valves and the guides which will all be replaced. Ill replace the valve springs as well.

There are some minor issues with one main and one rod journal on the crank. They say that a polish is all it needs. Good news because thats a lot cheaper than grinding.

The block casting checks out fine too. There is a small ridge on the uppers of the cylinder walls. It will be bored for .5mm oversize pistons.

The front cover is at a different local machine shop that does a lot of aluminum welding. They are going to try to repair the oil pump housing. The pump itself is good. I should know this week if its going to work out.

Ill have all the parts from AU within the week and the machine shop will start machine work. Its turned out to be quite a bit more $ than the original rebuild "kit" prices...

The injection pump is also at a local shop and the injectors have been done. The pump may also have corrosion issues - Ill know later this week.

Ill update again when I get some parts in hand and start assembly.

Hi All,

The parts arrived from AU and I should have my parts from the machine shop within the week. Cant wait to put it together.

BTW this engine along with a 5 speed will be up for sale when done - or it will be installed in a 60 that will be available. Contact me if you are interested.

How much for the 5 speed?? PM me please.

How much total do you think this rebuild will cost you? I can get a complete rebuild with all new toyta parts - crank, cam, rods, inj pump, starter, valves, head, everything for 9-10K here.

Louis
