can anyone comment on differences in 1HZ IP fuel inlet pipe setups?

picture is of what's on mine (engine out of a mid 90's 80 series from Belgium) and the banjo fitting inlet size in 10mm OD (red cap on it()

diagram is from Partsouq for HZJ7X series and it appears to show banjo fitting like mine connecting through a soft line to a hardline (circled), as well as a different setup (starred in the "box") with a longer hardline coming directly into the banjo fitting. Wondering if this long/direct hardline is 8mm OD which would match std fuel hardline size on fj60 the engine is now in? It appears to be available...

and since I'm asking, what about size of the fuel return on mine, which is 6mm OD...? I get that less fuel is being returned so smaller line required but...

Too much to ask that all the fuel connections be the same size at 8mm so I can use easily available 5/16 ID fuel line everywhere?

When the HZJ 78/79 came along, they also introduced the HDJ78/79 with larger diameter fuel lines, 10mm from memory, and they used the same fuel lines on the 1HZ. 8mm will be fine. I used all 6mm on my 1HZ to FJ73 conversion and it easily reached the hp and torque figures for a new 1HZ on a dyno.
People who argue against it need to remember the petrol versions use a lot more fuel than the diesels. so if 6 or 8mm can keep a 3F full of fuel, it easily keeps a 1HZ supplied with enough fuel.
8mm and 5/16ths is probably the same size as far as manufacturing rubber is concerned. I bet if you measured it with a micrometer it woulod be the same internal diameter.

thanks for the reply rosco

Can anyone confirm the diameter of this pipe (from diagram above) if I order it - I'm assuming (hoping?) it's 8mm?

Or if I need to be mix matching various size lines, what type of barb splice connectors should I use for fuel? Brass, plastic?

thanks

AFAIK 1HZ should be 10mm and 1HD-FT (24 valve) and 1HD-FTE is 12mm. That's what I read from the 1HDFTE conversion page when somebody is going from 1HZ to 1HDFTE engine.

AFAIK 1HZ should be 10mm
Australian eBay sellers are advertising 1HZ fuel hose for the 90-99 models as 8mm. Later on they increased the diameter.

can anyone tell me if the part pictured above 23811-17020 is 8, 10, or 12mm OD?

thanks Onur - is there public access to the EPC somewhere? All I can find is on Partsouq diagrams ( which I suspect is based on EPC?) which show the hose as 95332-10040 with no info describing diameter. It does show a picture but its not high enough quality to clearly read labeling on the hose.
