I never understood 'restocking fee' - why does it cost money to receive a shipment and put it back on the shelf. How about you eat the restocking fee? Sounds like the mixup on the bellhousing was the vendor's mistake and the buyer had to wait 6 months (loooong time).

Just sayin...
 
"restocking fee" usually equals the profit that the company was going to make of the product.

they do not loose any money that way.

it is one thing to restock due to the customer not needing it, it is another if the company couldn't supply in reasonable amount of time and the customer had to purchase elsewhere.
it would be interesting to know what the original agreement was, time frame wise, and the actual time taken to supply.
