Hi,i have 3 1HZ engines that have been sitting for about 5 to 8 yrs and i am trying to start them up,one of them i put it in a 75 and had started it last year and still runs good now,the other 2 one of them will starts up but it will run at about 1000 rpm and wouldnt idle down, and the accelerator lever will not accel the rpm, took the injection top cover and fuel cut solenoid out yesterday and it looks normal inside ,the last 1HZ is a newer model, from a HZJ79 wouldnt start,so i took the glowplugs out and crank the engine until i see fuel coming our of the hole and install glowplugs and it will run for about 20 seconds and die and will not start again until i take glowplugs out and crank until i see fuel, the accelerator lever also have no effect on the rpm on this engine,i had started a lot of 3B,2H,1HZ before and never experience the accelerator lever not increasing the rpm....
what can be wrong??
i am not an injection pump expert.

I'm not an inj pump expert either but what is the fuel supply like? I'm presuming the filter and primer are both ok and there are no air leaks into the fuel lines anywhere? Is the oil for each of the target motors good (fresh/clean with good new filter)?

I'd guess the fuel left sitting in the pumps has thickened up, and gummed up some moving parts.

While the top is off, put some solvent or fuel conditioner in the pump and let it soak for a while, then syphon it out, refill with fresh fuel, and try again
