thanks, that's food for thought.

So let me ask you Bernie. Who's going to be the one saying "I told you so?" And then who do I get to tell them they where wrong? Yourself?

Most of the people ready to say I told you so, have never had anything to do with a WTA system at all. If they did, I would listen. The current "pathetic" system has already proven itself. Now to increase the efficency.

I said good on you for having a go, not that I really care and should not have even bothered with any praise, you seem to have covered your own, all by yourself.

My apologies mate. I thought you where aluding to an I told you so in the future.

Hi mate
I was wondering how hot your heat exchanger pump gets. Mine gets so hot you can't touch it after about 20 mins (Bosch cobra) and wonder if this is normal or not. Ps just fitted a frozen boost system today and don't want to fry the pump

Are you absolutely sure you got all the air out of the system? I have the same pump and the last time I went from a completely empty system I had a really hard time getting the pump to move liquid. It just wanted to sit there spinning with an air bubble inside. I had to squeeze the hoses alternately on either side quite a few times before I felt it "burp"and then the pump started moving water. I haven't tried it but the pump should be the same temperature as the water, or pretty close in my opinion.

X2 if the pump has air in it. It will just spin and get hot. You won't cook the cobra pump. It gets warm, not hot.

I'm almost back onto this project now. Gathering final results and testing. A 1HDT kit is in the pipeline.

The impeller part of the pump stays cool but the motor part gets hot. I did some quick testing and got 135* pre, 60* post at 33* ambient sustained 22 psi. This would suggest to me that the pump is pumping coolant around. Maybe a restriction somewhere. 3/4 hose and no tight bends. I just don't know.
Ps. If you want me to start another thread let me know.

No your right mate. I see your in qld. Just add all the info intercooler size? Heat exchanger size? Turbo? Etc etc

But your figures match mine. Ambient 30
Pre/post
60/40 idle
80/50
120/60

Just a side note though. I changed to clear pipe while testing and can visually see the air bubbles. You need to bleed it well and the intercooler number do respond. Once bled propperly though its fine.

Another side question for the WTA guys. How is your ac now? Mine is BLOODY FREEZING since I fitted the cooler. It wasn't very good before hand. And haven't touched it, just added the cooler. I have ice vapour coming out now. Have to turn it off as its too cold.

Ya I hear you on the AC thing I'm running air to air and I can tell you my AC is ice cold ,wait I don't have AC ,oh ya i guess its freezing out. So your running you wta through your AC . Should I be saving some big AC stuff from big trucks limos etc. For a guy to use in his cruiser settup

Your AC temp is controlled by a thermistor and temperature switch on the evaporator. You wai shouldn't have made any difference to that.
Unless before it wasn't getting airflow and was heat-soaking the condensor.

I'm thinking its the thermal fan as the heat exchanger is mounted to the ac rad. It has made a pretty big difference.

Heat exchanger - 24x12x1
Intercooler - 2x type 16
Turbo - Gturbo BB1
Thermo - single 9" (no room)
Boost - 22psi (for now)
Coolant - about 3 litres

I'll try to get some pics up

Quick homemade job

I'd be interested to see the difference between the losses in HP from the drive of the A/C compressor for cooling the intercooler as apposed to the HP gains you attribute from your data but not just your hypothetic data but actual data with a real base line based on your own vehicle.

The refrigerated intercooler is just an idea I'm going to try. It's a looong time away. I'm running a straight WTA system now and that's where my figures come from. So until such time as I'm running the refrigerated, lets leave it out of this thread hey?

Back to the WTA. The more data I gather and the more I learn its characteristics. The more impressed with it I am. Its just getting better and better.
