looking for diesel poewer of australia the rewiews are very good i like toyota original part but the price is very expensive

Most of the Australian engine parts are made in Taiwan. Don't be alarmed, they have been producing high quality metal for years.
Engines Australia do good deals for people overseas.
 
I was just having a read of this old post and noticed various ideas regarding the differences in pistons and timing pre vs post 8/92 models. The retarded timing setting for the post ~8/92 models (actually relates to pump serial number not the date) relates to the injector pump which I'm told varied slightly from the early ones (pre-plunger stroke length?). Lifting the injectors by 1mm essentially enables the injection timing (injector nozzle to bowl) to be roughly the same as the early models (due to the retarded pump timing). Using 2.5mm injector washers with post-92 pistons and early pump will work fine. Setting an early pump to the post 8/92 timing setting with post 92 pistons with 2.5 or 3.5mm washers will not work particularly well. Cheers

Hey, did you come to this conclusion by first hand knowledge or did you see this info referenced somewhere? I am just starting my rebuild and would like to use the later style piston(cost and availability) with my early IP and injectors. My IP was serviced a little while back and my injectors were replaced shortly after, therefore are in good working condition.

I just re-read my post and it had me confused - apologies!

This info came about after chatting with a couple of injection specialists that I use. The difference in the pump timing had me stuffed and I could not find any info anywhere.

Essentially the post 92 timing setting relates to the pump model - slight difference between the two. The use of the thicker washers relates to the depth of the piston bowl with is shallower (by about 1mm) in the post 92 piston. I've played around with 2.5 vs 3.5mm washers and it doesnt make a huge difference - I use the 3.5mm ones. Tried the post-92 timing setting with an early pump once - did not work at all as the timing is massively retarded.

i know this is an old thread. the 90-92 and 93-94 pistons differences are well documented. what about the newest pistons available? from a 2002 Mexican hdj100 w/1hdt I find part number: 13103-17051 (O/S) this is different then the 13103-17040 number that a 93 shows. the piston ring number is also different..

does anybody know what the difference is? there are pictures of these pistons on the web but they look the same. possible they use thinner rings like the 1hdfte?

Other could be ring lands/groove width/casting differences/coatings/metallurgy.

The injectors for the late model 80's 1HDT matches the 02+ 100 series 1HDT

Looks like they share the same PN# (1110117020) for the head as well.

I'd be confident enough to run them with the proper injectors/washers.

The 100 1HDT has 4 pump options, none of them match the 80 1HDT pump:

That shouldn't stop you from running them, although I'd be curious to see how the pumps differ.
 
Pump pressure, pulse duration vs injector breaking / opening point..

What I can tell in fact it's 1HD-T injectors are pretty capable of 200+ to the wheels .. while the pump will fall short sooner.
