Does anyone know the dimensions of the adapter that screws into the glow plug ports for checking the compression? Thread size and depth of the port? Are they available somewhere? I don't see the need to purchase the whole kit (SST 9992-00024) if it's not necessary.

I want to check the compression on our newish 81 and we don't have any local mechanical talent that knows these engines or the SSTs required, so I'm doing the leg work for them.
Thanks!

Thread is M10x1.25 I believe. That thread works for a lot of Toyota diesel glow plug holes. If you want to know the depth etc. for various glow plug holes, just look at glow plug specs. A lot of manufacturers give dimensions of the glow plugs.

I've thought of drilling out and tapping an old glow plug to make a DIY adapter... Not sure if that would work or not...

This information really has helped me! Thanks GTSS!

I bought an adapter from Napa for a Cummings engine. It goes in the injector hole. I tried to find the part number but no luck. I am sure I found the part # orignally on Mud. If I find it I will post. Bought a cheap guage and some fittings works well.

Boy, I could've used that pic a while back!

Sorry it came with this kit. There are no markings or part numbers on the adapter.

I’m gearing up for my inbound 1HDFTE.

Can anybody confirm my hope that this is the adapter I’ll use in the injectors for a compression test?

Neither of those m10 adapters will work as the 1hdft/e do not have glow plugs. M10 adapter only works for 1hdt, u need the special one for using the injector location. The modified Cummins one that wildnlost shows looks promising, but I can’t confirm that it works for 1hdfte
