Hey fellas I have a 1992 1hdt 80 series that has a weird coolant leak near the harmonic Balancer just under the water pump. If I start it up get it hot take it for a drive and bring it back to sit it won’t leak it’s only after I let it get cold start it up for a couple of seconds it starts to piss out. If I start it up again take it for a drive and get it hot and turn it off it dosnt leak. The leak seems to be coming from the cover the harmonic balancer bolts to. Unless it’s leaking from the water pump and dripping down I’m not to sure have tried to trance it up high but seems dry and more leaking from the seal in video any help would be greatly appreciated cheers

There are also coolant hardlines that are hidden above that, takei t apart for a service. do the T-Belt kit and water pump, look at the hard lines that feed the turbo and inspect the rubber in the harmonic balancer. 1HD-Ts are not cheap. good job noticing the leak early.

The balancer goes into the timing cover and there is no coolant there, just oil and the oil seal from the cover to the balancer.
Yes, the WP is right above the balancer, and as.mentiined hard and soft coolant lines to inspect...

there is also a freeze plug in the block right below the WP (above the timing case) worth looking at also .
As mentioned I'd pick up a timing belt kit and water pump and thermostat and take it apart and have a look.

None of it is hard to get to, you're just going to have to take things off the front of the motor until you find the source.
Yeah CJ were m
