Anybody have a good picture of how to attach the front turbo water pipe and where it goes? planning my turbo install and wonder where this one goes (the one that apparently goes under the timing belt cover)

This was the best could find in the FSM, where does it connect to the water system? is there different water outlet on the head I need to find?

It attaches via a hose to a fitting on the bottom of the water outlet, intake side of the engine. This is a 1hdt so you probably need the outlet from one of those.

Sweet. Does the pipe from the vacuum pump run along side it too?

If you haven't seen this, @AlbertoSD went into a lot of detail on a 1Hz turbo installation in his thread. Some photos of what you are interested in may be here:

and on subsequent pages. There is a wealth of well documented information in his thread.

the combo water and vacuum tube is found on hdj78/9 trucks only 2001-2006 production. Buy one while you still can. 70 series vacuum reservoirs are on right side of engine bay. to install you must pull the top timing cover which needs a new cam shaft seal and some black fipg when replaced.

Have you installed this on a 75 series? During my initial mock-up, it didn’t seem like it would fit my 1HZ.

I have put this 2001 later version block style on a 1992 and 1994 hdt block without issues in both a 74 and 79 series (narrow and wide) front end.

my 2006 conversion I JB welded the two tubes together which lasted 7 years until the JB weld broke down from the heat. The factory welded unit which is CHEAP was the better solution.

It doesn’t quite fit on my 1996 HZJ75.

Should I shave the head a bit?

Maybe heat and bend the Pipe?
Yessir, that would probably work. I may have found a different solution. I’ll keep everyone posted.

I decided to just relocate the vacuum canister.

The routing from the pump, and then to the brake booster, is better this way anyway. I’ll need to grab some 9mm reinforced vacuum hose. And I’ll need to extend the wires for the low vacuum sensor. Either way, I think it looks pretty good there.

The turbo H2O and vacuum hardlines are different sizes. So I needed to order the single turbo H2O line (for the crossover hardpipe behind the water pump). Toyota PN: 16028-17010.
