Does anyone here know of anyone who installed a positive air shut off on a 1HD-T? I'm thinking of the over-rev / manual type....
There are a bunch of manufacturers out there, but as you've guessed nothing specifically designed for this motor so I'm not sure which will fit in the engine bay.
thx

Do you think you will ever need it?

need it? Probably not in the way you're thinking. It's a requirement at most of the sites I work.

You are allowed to take such an old engine into a mine site?. Many of the mines here have a 200000klm or 5 years cut off date

I am guessing by location not a mine but oil & gas processing sites. Roda Deaco is located in Edmonton so I am sure that they can help you out especially if you only want a manual trigger on the valve.

yup, what he said. I had one on my 12valve, and installed a couple on our cummins shop trucks. Only issue will be the proper diameter piping for the intake.
Cheers!

I know this is an awakening of an old thread.

Long story short I have experienced a runaway and it's pretty scary stuff. The turbo shaft broke but I'm lucky no pieces made its way into the engine.

I'm thinking of making my own from a manual throttle body from a gasser.

I found this post on another diesel site. And he’s using what looks to be cheap Chinese billet universal throttle body’s. I was thinking of getting a matching pair then I can almost have a bolt on solution for the hose flange instead of making a flange and welding a tube.
