I have a '92 HDJ81v with a 4 speed a442f transmission, and 130,000 kms on it. This past few weeks i've noticed that after driving the truck for about an hour, you will feel that the body shakes/vibrates as you stop the truck with the gear lever still in the " D " position, or even when in neutral with your foot still on the brake pedal as you shift to " D " position the body will shake continously as if the truck wanted to move.then releasing the brakes slightly it continues to shake until you put slight pressure on the accelerator pedal.
i also noticed that when i accelerate harder past 2000 rpm, the battery indicator light, at/p, oil and other idiot lights on the instrument panel including the red overboost light comes on or sometimes blinks... is this related to the alternator?

cheers

You would be better off starting a new thread I think. As for your shaking what is the idle at.? I have the exact same truck and recently fixed my low idle shake by removing the acsd-it was also leaking. As for the dash lights mine does this occasionally and all the info I have read seems to indicate that the alternator is going. I am going to inspect the brushes first before condeming the alt. Just waiting for better weather first.
good luck.

It normally idles at 800 rpm with the a/c on, 650 rpm when in " D " position but when used for about an hour with mix city and highway driving you will notice that the rpm goes down to 400 - 500 rpm with a noticeable body shake while the shift lever is at " D " position in stop and go traffic.
How did you removed the acsd? is there any other parts needed to be replaced?
thanks..

I have a 1991 HDJ81 that had ~ 60,000 km on it when I purchased it. I found the IP had many minor diesel leaks and the vehicle was very difficult to start and keep running at temperatures < -15 C and I therefore had the IP rebuilt at GCL in Calgary. I asked GCL to remove the ACSD and replace with a blanking plate, and they did so with no problems.
I also have a Wilson switch installed for the Glow Plugs.

This is my second winter with the truck and I have now found that it starts (immediately) down to -12 C without using the Glow Plugs and idles good within about 10 seconds after starting at that temp and not using the glows.
I plan on using the Glow plugs when it is that cold but I just wanted to see if it would start without them. I have also started the truck after being left out at -30 C and found I had to give it about 15 seconds on the Wilson, and then it started ok, and I gave it about another 15 seconds on the glows while it was running, it idled fine after about 10 seconds. At this temperature I found that I needed to pull the throttle out a bit in order for it to warm up. At temperatures down to ~ -10 C I find that I do not need to play with the throttle, just start it and let it warm up.
I have no regrets in getting the ACSD removed, the truck runs great at low temps, and also ran great over the summer, I get between 22 - 25 mpg (imperial).
I have the manual 5 speed trans, and after warming up the idle is set to ~ 850 rpm.
GCL told me that there is a problem sometimes with something coming loose in the ACSD that can wreck the IP and that removing it is a good idea.

good day, can someone post a picture of the IP with a blocked ACSD? do i have to remove the lever arm that touches the ACSD pluger?
thanks
