I drive a ‘99 100 series 1HD-FTE.
A couple days ago while returning from a day trip there was a loud whizzing sound and loss of power at about 140km/h. I’ve come to find out that my turbo is kaput.
I’d like to know what is the recommended course of action.
From my research, an original replacement is quite pricey and I have no idea about the reliability of the cheaper “Aussie Made” options on eBay.
I’m also open to an upgrade but what is the most cost effective upgrade I can make at this point?
