1998 Landcruiser 206,000 miles with rear locker. I bought this a couple months ago in Delaware from an IH8mudder with the intention of lifting it and making it more of an overland vehicle. My wife has been driving it and likes it so asked me to find a newer LC or LX and then keep it stock. I now have a replacement so I'm posting.
1998 206,000 miles. rear locker. no accidents on carfax
Since I’ve owned it I’ve put about $2000 into it plus my own labor.
-$125 safety inspection (to make sure nothing needs to be fixed immediately)
-$600 repack front wheel bearings and oil change (Toyota dealer service)
-$250 Deep clean detail of interior (it was pretty dirty)
-$400 IGGEE seat covers. Fit awesome (front seat is ripped underneath, passenger seat is good. rear leather beat up but not ripped, 3rd row great)
-$275 new steering wheel (old one was torn up)
-$150 new ignition cylinder (dealer quoted $590 for this so I did myself)
-$150 ECU reprogrammed for new master keys
-I also removed the old wood trim which was badly faded.
Sunroof works great. There is only surface rust underneath. My mechanic said he has seen very few east coast trucks in this shape. On the lift we could see that it has a newer exhaust and a cat replaced. Has newer tires and brakes are in good shape.
Here's what does not work: power antenna, CD player. Spare tire is flat.
Passed NY state inspection a couple weeks ago. My mechanic said it would eventually need:
New ball joints & New front sway arm bushings (I was going to lift it so these would have been addressed) and Timing belt
Before I got it, it got a new radiator, starter and front brake calipers. for about $2k.
