Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help me out as I'm useless with auto electrics!

I turn my headlights on & start driving, they start flashing & then cut out, if I have high beam on my spotties do the same, but my tail lights, park lights, quarter panel lights all stay on, just the headlights n spot lights flicker & go out.. Then if I turn them off & wait a bit n turn them back on they are fine for a couple minutes then start doing it all over again, you can hear an abrupt clicking sound coming from in the dash, but I wouldn't know where to start looking?! So if anyone has some handy hints or ideas as to where to start looking? Or how to fix this? It would be greatly appreciated!!! It's fairly urgent as I drive to & from work in the dark

sounds like you have a bad relay

So would that be just the genuine toyota headlight relay? & where is that located?

I dont know location...could be near fuse box...could be up by the firewall...sometimes you can searc them out by sticking your head under the dash and turning lights on and off..listening for the click

Found the relay under the dash & replaced it & it has made no change in the problem? So now I have no idea what it is? The worst part is the nearest auto sparky is 450km away from me

Ok check ALL your grounds that have anything to do with your lights. Start at the bulbs and work your way back to switch, relay and battery/s
Is she 24 or 12V

I am having the exact same issue.
Did you figure it out and what was the issue?
I have been through the fuses and lights and relays but can't find the issue.

My 97 did the same think, no headlight lights.
Mine has been sitting for a long time problem was bad contact at the fuses, corrosion, clean the fuse contacts at the fuse box and headlights work.
Problem can also be bad contacts at the relay and the switch, and the 2 big plug with about 20 wires under the steering column.
