1997 LC - buzzing from under driver side dash

1997 LC with 144k...one owner truck...good shape.

The truck has a buzzing sound coming from under the drivers side dash...sounds like behind the tach. The buzz is only heard when you are accelerating at around 20 miles an hour. No buzzing in park...sound is only made when in gear and rolling. Makes the sound about 25% of the time.....strange.

Any ideas ?

Is your car an imported model or was it sold domestically? I bought a 1997 Prado VZJ95 that was imported from Dubai. It's a federal mandate there that every car must be equipped with an overspeed indicator that beeps or buzzes to alert the driver that they are exceeding 125km/h. Mine was malfunctioning when I bought it, so it buzzed constantly. I found the buzzer unit mounted behind the speedometer after I removed the gauge cluster. Tore it out, put it all back together and no more buzzing!
