Gentlemen, and Adam

Actually back from the 'Stan and can begin the rebuild of the Troopie. Ever since I got the 4BT 80, I have been bit by the diesel bug and bought a BJ-70, and then promptly sold it when the Troopie fell in my lap.

From sunny San Diego, I poached one of TLCruiserman's imported trucks and added the troopie to the stable.

So, what we have is a 1997 HZJ-75 from Austraila. Comes with the 1HZ diesel with the Turbo Glide turbo added on to give the truck a little pep. ARB front bumper, fender tubes and ARB steps/sliders. Kaymar rear bumper with tire and gas can swing out. Inside, the stock seats have been replaced with some BJ-70 bucket seats and in the back, I still have the troop bench seats with an air ride BJ-70 bucket seat mounted behind the passenger seat.

All in all, pretty good truck, but as with all of us here, the never ending list of mods begins to grow.

The rebuild begins!

Thanks. Been lining up all the parts that I need. The gears are en route from Australia vi DHL, just got off the phone wit Cam at IPOR and am getting the new springs and shocks going. Carl over at Just Differentials is getting me my Diff stuff and Beno and Radd cruisers are getting me all my OEM bits and pieces.

This will be a great winter project, hopefully I can get it all done. I have a trip to Beaufort SC coming up, I'll be dropping my thirds off at Darin's shop to do the new gears and lockers.

Who in the club had the SST for a FF rear axle?

Thanks guys.

Jerry, do ou need anything from the A440F that I got from Greg? Only thing I'm using is the back-shell of the transfer case and giving Greg back the McNamara gear that is in there.

Unknown, it was Greg's and I was just poaching it for the transfer case shell. It's missing the valve body oil pan, that's all I know.

Welcome back brother.
Nice pair of rigs.

Thanks mang, how's the Panhandle treating you? If I don't get the job I want for my twilight tour, then I may be down the road in P-cola.

Jon, I'll let you know. I don't think I'll be getting to the rear axle for a while.

On the progress track, got the suspension ordered from Cam at IPOR, so I should have a pile of springs and such here in a week or so.

Carl up at Just Differentials is getting my gears and lockers together. Figure I can try out the new TJM Pro lockers, something different.

The big hurdle will be all the OEM stuff. Beno and John up at Radd's are working to get me my goodies, but I feel that I will be paying the big shipping bucks to get stuff from overseas. Such is life I guess.

Let's go to australia? Get some parts do a week or so outback adventure vacation in a cruiser. Just say the hell with the wifes, work and our responsabilties...... u down?

Jerk. ;)

Can't wait to see this thing!

Glad you're back and safe, and thank you for your service!

I am jealous and I have one. The rebuilding process is on going with these cruisers. Still tracking down parts north of the border to avoid the big shipping fee. I already paid enough to postal and FedEx with the motor rebuild. If you figure out a way to save on shipping let me know.

Since you are back, When are we going to get the 2 Troopies together? November and December weekends are fairly flexible for me.

Sorry, I just caught this post.

I'm good, if anyone else can use it, have at it as long as Greg is good with it. I've got the fresh H55 and the old tranny to pick from if needed.

Thanks for thinking of me...

Ok, back on topic. The first bits of parts are starting to dribble in.

Got a package from Mark's 4WD and my transfer case gears came in. I got the set that gives me an 8% overdrive in Hi and a 44% reduction in Lo. And a bunch of swag came with it:cheers:

The interesting thing I had done was I had Mark's send the gear that is on the tranny output shaft over to Jack McNamara's shop to fabricate a McNamara gear for the replacement gear set. This will definitely be a great addition to the transfer case

Oh yeah, taurus fan:meh: Don't know if I'm gonna use it yet, but there are some great plug and play relays for the 2-speed fans
