After a decade of adventures and tinkering in various forms of Landcruisers, it’s unfortunately time to take a break. I moved overseas last spring and we are now realizing that we are not sure when we will return and I hate to have it mostly sitting so it's time to let it go. For the time being, the truck is located close to downtown in SE Portland, OR. and being tended to by my brother in law who is also assisting with viewings, title transfer, etc. (if concerns about any of that, just contact Torfab or Landcruisers NW and they can vouch for me and the vehicle).

I am happy to answer any and all questions via email/skype/whatsapp/imessage/PM and via phone if we can coordinate a time that works.

160k miles on chassis VIN# JT3HJ85J1T0146660
115k miles on engine

PRICE: $22,000 OBO

Here's the important stuff:
  • Clean and clear Oregon Title
  • 1HD-T in very good shape as I replaced most ancillary parts and cleaned it up when I first picked it up ($6k). Runs flawlessly with 475 compression across all cylinders (@torfab can confirm)
  • Professional conversion by Torfab ($5k labor +$5k parts not including engine)
  • Freshly rebuilt Grunter Turbo - not the extreme version - came off my 1HZ rebuild which met an untimely end and was just rebuilt by G-Turbo. (around $2k)
  • A442F Hydraulic Automatic transmission from Wholesale Automatics (complete rebuilt unit, not just VB) with lockup in 3 and 4. (Just FYI, this alone was about $7k new from Australia)
  • Heavy Duty Torque Converter from Wholesale Automatics (Can’t recall exact, but was about $1200-1400 new from Australia)
  • Custom 2 ½” exhaust (Probably with one too many mufflers now that it has a turbo. Had too much drone with the 1HZ I started with before I had both mufflers)
  • Airdog II filter/separator
  • ARB front and rear lockers ($2k + install)
  • Center Diff Lock
  • Freshly rebuilt injection pump (at DFIS in Portland $1500)
  • BEB’s were replaced by previous owner and I’ve only driven this a few hundred miles since owning. This will be a few hundred more by the time I’m done driving it in December.
  • Rear ARB bumper - needs tire/fuel carrier to take full advantage of this super nice and expensive unit ($1600)
  • Complete Old Man Emu suspension kit, about 3/4" lift over stock ($900)
Here's the less important stuff (but still important):

    • Factory AC
    • New timing Belt, pulley and water pump
    • New Front and rear main seals
    • All fluids and filters are new and mostly Toyota brand (i.e. red Toyota coolant)
    • New tranny fluid
    • New dual batteries, Sears Diehard Advanced Gold AGM
    • New IsoPro gauges for: Oil Pressure, EGT’s, Boost
    • Slee headlight wiring harness
    • New Window seals and new OEM motor installed in driver’s side
    • Have OEM replacement motors for all 3 remaining doors (at over $200+ per motor from Toyota)
    • Speakers are Focal brand all around.
    • Wilson switch wired up for glows.
    • Reverse camera wired up and ready for a double din stereo.
Here's the "important, but things I'm not happy about" stuff. It's old and has been well loved so of course it needs a few things and I feel is reflected in the price.

  • Front Driver seat is split open. Of course.
  • It's been in a fender bender or two before my time:
    • Front left of hood has slight bend and a little rust on the under side and has a bit of anti-rust primer to protect it.
    • Driver’s side door has a dent that looks easy to pull.
    • Might have another small dent somewhere but I don’t recall and I’m on the other side of the world so tricky to check.
  • Roof rails had a touch of surface rust at the sheet metal so these were removed, cleaned up and fitted with a temp cap and primer. Needs sorting out still.
  • Wheel flairs were removed, holes need to be filled or new flairs added. I might get some custom decals made to give it better curb appeal. :D Personally, I’d fill them and go with the clean look, but new owner could go with http://www.pocketfenderflares.com as well.
  • Front bumper needs to be replaced (with something awesome and not stock)
  • A/C needs a charge
  • Stereo was pulled out so no one would want to steal it while in storage, some very nice speakers are still in place though. I may find a temp remedy for this since I will be using it for a week.
  • Needs new tires all around.
  • Some underbody rust that needs attention eventually but bodywork is fine.
That's it for the stuff I can remember that it needs, nothing too major and thanks to Tor, has some flawless mechanicals. Fires right up on a cold morning with very little smoke even without glowing. Doesn't leak or use any oil. Absolutely no blow-by! You could use it as a daily driver as you build and clean it up since it is totally mechanically sound and gets good mpg.

Private Message me if interested and I can arrange a viewing. Thanks for looking.

Looks like a nice rig do you have more pics of interior? Condition of the rust or other age related damage? Thanks. I'm awaiting replacement money for my fzj80 but interested in giving this one a new home

Hey there, let me look through my photos and see what I have though for anything current, I'm guessing I'll have to get my friend whose house it's staying at to take some pics for me. I'll send him a note tonight and see what I can make happen in the next few days. Cheers!

Thanks much appreciated I'm fighting my insurance still getting payout from being hit by a drunk driver. Really like the build on this cruiser tho

Update: some recent shots of interior and underside.

Looking to move this thing onto the next owner, hard to manage it from overseas in downtown Portland.

I'll be in Portland on Sunday...I would like to take a look at it and maybe take it for a spin. Your brother-in-law available to show it off?

Been in 100's for a long time....looking to acquire a diesel 80 at some point and yours has me interested.

Actually, looks like it is the following weekend of the 21st/22nd, not this weekend.

Can you repost the pictures? All of them are blank for me. Imgur.com works great.

Pics are posted on Imgur already, still work for me and I've tried them on 4 different machines. Maybe restart your browser, etc.?

To be honest, that's much better timing anyway, Portland is a snowy mess right now. As you know these rigs don't have issues getting around in the snow (assuming a competent snow driver), it's the other drivers I don't trust!

I'll send a PM to coordinate for next weekend.

After a decade of adventures and tinkering in various forms of Landcruisers, it’s unfortunately time to take a break. I moved overseas last spring and put it in storage at a friend’s house who would drive it once a month, but I'm now realizing that we are not sure when we will return from living overseas and I hate to have it mostly sitting. The reason for the pre-sale is that after spending the summer under Torfab's care ironing out some bugs, it was moved to a remote town in Idaho for long-term storage and to top it off, the title is in my hands in Europe. Poor planning on my part, but when moving overseas, these things happen.

As of Dec. 4th, both truck and clean, Oregon registered title will be back in Portland until it sells. Ideally anyone who is interested will get ahold of me to see it between Dec. 5-9 while I am in town and can answer any and all questions in person. After that time, I will only be able to assist with sale via email/calls and any viewings will be handled by my brother-In-law.

How did that engine cart not roll down hill with the engine attached?

Curious about the diesel. Can anyone work on this motor (including Toyota) or is it so specialized that one has to seek out mechanics?

Unfortunately most shops don't like to work on them or will charge you an arm and a leg because they are unfamiliar-- unless you live somewhere near a specialty shop like Torfab or near the Canadian border. They're not so tough to work on yourself with so little wiring though, it just seems daunting is all. And this community is so incredibly helpful and has some a broad spectrum of folks from all around the world, a lot of them grew up with these diesels and know everything there is to know. Hope that answers it for you.
