If that lasts even three more minutes, the people who say they are searching hard for an 80... aren't.

That rig is underpriced by $15k. I just hope some sleazy flipper doesn't grab it.

EDIT: just looked at Autocheck... lifetime Ohio rig... do you due diligence on rust.

Body presents very cleanly. Clearcoat looks good. None of the armor and accessories show any rust.

The one pic shown which would tell all is the bottom of the upper hatch, and it's a bit too dimly lit to see anything. Sort of the same thing with pic of the front wheel.

The winter windshield wiper blades are a bit of a tell.

But really, at that price, you could strip/ refinish or replace anything that was funky and still be way ahead, imo.

Gotta laugh that there are bidders. Do they think it's going to sell for less than $20k? Seller has a BIN button on the auction.

I am curious about the seller. He/ she has to know it is worth a lot more. Don’t seem like a desperate for cash type. Instincts tell me it’s the best value I have ever seen on a locked 80 with 85k miles. That thing could go into a museum.

Wow! That sure beats the 40k rig that has a questionable background.

This will perhaps sound bad, but these types of listings are why you should have a burner account on eBay. Hit the BIN, sort it out in the morning. If there's something not right, walk away and you haven't screwed up your primary account.

Yeah, it's not totally ethical, but buyers get porked day in and day out by online car sellers.

$0.02

If I hadn't added 3 Toyotas to the herd this year already, this Moonglow beauty would be mine.

I'd have to see under carriage pics because of the location, but at first glance, I'd buy it at 20k if I was in the market. Not a fan of FJ wheels on an LC, though.

All the mods are brand new and freshly installed. Like they put them on to increase the price... Seems like it would go for 20K stock

Is that rust?

Looking at the sellers history...
This rig was listed a few days ago, and somebody popped the BIN after about 40 minutes. Obviously, something happened.

The more I look at the pics, especially that they're taken in low light, the more I suspect the condition might not be so pristine. If seller had posted even one well-lit pic of the engine bay or undercarriage, there'd be no mystery.

I pinged the seller. He was very quick to respond to multiple questions.

The Title is in his name. And he will send additional pics upon request.

The engine bay is very clean. Some pitting/chalkiness on the valve cover. Clamps, bolt heads, etc are in very nice condition. Hood pad has some mild staining.

Underside shows some rust on the axle housings and associated hardware and assemblies. A little bit of mild rust on the common frame components.

For a truck with 23+ years of Ohio residency, I'd rate the condition underneath a 9 out of 10. That's compared to what I would expect.
Having seen the very best and also some really nasty 80s... I think the underside is a 6 or 7 out of 10 as compared to a museum example.

It's not a museum piece. But IMO, if somebody invested time into cleaning up the surfaces below the belt, they would have a very desirable 80.

Only a few pics came through. Judging by the pics, I'd have to see a lot more of the undercarriage before I'd personally be willing to spend any money. I agree, one owner, low mileage is rare, but I don't think I could handle the metal cancer.

Just one more comment about the condition, and this applies to any rig, not just this one...

IMO, if you're going to buy a vehicle like this and try to make it pristine again, be sure to thoroughly photo document before AND after work.

You're never going to escape the Ohio/Rust Belt history on the Carfax, so it's important to be able to show what it was like when you bought it, and what it was like shortly after. Buyers out west or down south are going to (rightfully) be concerned about rust. And we can see that there is some present underneath this truck. But the miles, color, condition and lockers makes this one pretty special. And there's nothing which appears to be too serious. Investing money in stripping/abrasion/dry ice blasting/whatever is probably money well spent. Just be sure to do it right. If you decide to simply rattle can or other wise cover the issues over, you are going to take a real hit when you go to sell the truck down the road.

This is all IMO. Likely worth less than $0.02

Hmm. I have a good friend in Springfield that could probably check this out. That is tempting!
