1996 1997 Color and Mechanical Variations (1 Viewer)

I have been looking for a 80 series since 1/2005. I test drove a 1996 today and noticed the interior to be a darker shade. The 1996 resembled a dark brown and not tan. Is this accurate? I have only seen pictures 0f 1997's and was wondering if the 96's were a shade darker.

Also, did the landcruiser exterior feature Burgandy and red for the years described above? I have notices some models appear to have a deeper and richer gloss of burgandy while others favor red.



I also read the newbie guide and was wondering if there are any mechanical difficienies or improvements between the two years.

Where are you? I have seen color combinations in Australia, for instance, that I haven't seen in the States.

Aside from the 40th anniversary model, there should be no variations in interior color between a 96 and 97. It could be that it was originally a cloth interior rig and the leather is aftermarket.

I'm pretty sure it's documented somewhere, but off the top of my head, I think the last year for burgundy 80s was 1996.

The leather had a more textured appearance and feel in the 96. The dashboard looked a shade darker in color as well compared to the 97. Maybe I am working to hard...

BTW, there are no mechanical variations between the 96 and 97.
