I have a 1994 LC with 1fz-fe motor. Just recently noticed when I go from "park" to "drive" it does not want to move. The engine revs but truck moves very slowly. It eventually gets going, then it seems to be normal when it shifts to 2nd. I tried searching but I think my terminology might be off. Ideas?

When I shift into "low" directly from park it moves fine.
Shifting from "reverse" to "drive" works fine also.
Fluid level is good with good color and normal smell.

Just a though, but You may need to replace the shift solenoids in your trans.

Each gear has it's own electric shift solenoid, if one is going bad it's a good idea to replace all of them. If you do a search there are threads by other members that list vendors( plus part numbers) that sell the solenoids cheaper than factory ones.

Do your dash lights work for gear selection? if they don't it may mean that the wiring for the transmission gear selector has been compromised. this can cause all sorts of oddities.

My "D" light hasn't worked for about 5 years. The others seem to work ok.

CobraTransmission.com is where I bought the solenoids for about $200. Easy to put in too. Drop the pan, unplug the solenoids, and plug in the new ones.

Well I don't want to say that the other guys that are posting here aren't right and it isn't a solenoid. Sound like it might be. However, the wiring that connects the transmission to the engine controller (on a 94 they are separate) passes under the PHH, so over time it get corroded with no connection between the two my truck wouldn't shift right, would "slip" in reverse etc. The sign that this wiring is f****d is that your dash shift lights don't work.
you can see a little more info on my thread here
Good luck

Thanks. I'll check this also and make sure the connections are good.
