I have been lurking on here for about 6 months and decided I should try and give something back for all of the great info I have taken from here.
The back story:
We got into full size truck off roading around 8 years ago when our kids where born. Before that we rode atv's for fun. We started with my old '90 chevy truck and put a solid axle under the front. Then ran out of room with two kids, so I put a 1996 s10 blazer body on the frame. Which eventually turned into the truck we have today with 42's, 5.3L, NV4500, 241/205 doubler in it. Then 2 years ago we moved down to Colorado and now we are tired of having to trailer everywhere. Also I want a full tube chassis buggy. To keep the family happy we put our current truck "Loki" up for sale and started planning a family camping, wheeling, daily driver capable, interstate capable rig. Our requirements where solid front axle, 4 door, third row seat, aftermarket support and Ls swap capability. As you can imagine there are very few rigs that fit this bill. And that's how we came to an 80 series LC. Then I wanted a full float rear and non-airbag one. I found this 94 with a blown HG for $1k. I pulled the motor and sold all the associated parts. Then I picked up a 1999 chevy silverado with a 5.3L, 4L60 with 123k on it for the donor motor. Now I'm knee deep in trying to get the swap done. I know that there are great LS swap threads on here already and I only hope that I can add something to the forum also. I also wanted to keep a list of the parts I used for myself and others to refer to. Please give me any and all feedback and advice as this is my first Toyota!

I thought I recognized the user name from another board back in the day, and I sure recognize the S10..

CK5 - used to hang over there, still got the K5 (which finally gets a makeover these days)... together with a few Cruisers

That k5 looks very familiar! You made me a believer that less weight in tools and gear =less breakage! The S10 has been very good to me, but it will never be a race buggy. Need to keep the family happy first though so here we are! The more I read about cruisers the more I appreciate them.

Don't forget cupholders!

I'll be 'wheeling that K5 for quite a while longer now that it has got a few new goodies; not sure when I'll get around getting the '80 out on a trail - somehow, life seems to conspire against that.

so, I found this one in my photo stash from 5 years ago...

Look at that straight body! Planning on keeping the LC body straight, but still wheeling it! That pic won me a hooded sweatshirt off if pirate! I'm excited to see what this cruiser is capable of once I get it rolling. I see ORD still uses your k5 in its magazine adds! What have you added to the k5?

Finally replaced the rear D60 with a disk-brake 14b, re-geared to 5.13, upped the front D60 to 35-spline, and clocked the t'case to clean up the middle; still on leaf springs. 5.13s are great for driving through the parking brake... :).
Running with a batch of 80s for many years and seeing how easy the power gets to the ground eventually got us into owning a '93 and a '97 (although this all started with my wife's '72 FJ40...). But ever since acquiring those trucks (thinking that the '93 would take over once the K5 wears out...), my trail running time seems to have evaporated... :-(

The ORD stuff is indeed funny: my K5 may be the one that's been featured in most magazine issues - ever. Then again, my K5 is one of the few that -despite all the trail miles- still looks like a K5 and hasn't turned into a buggy...

By the way, I'm sort of waiting for the time folks around here find out that the '80 is too wide and needs to be narrowed, cut down, etc... :)

Sounds like you have the k5 really solid now! Not sure you will be wearing it out anytime soon. I'm planning on keeping my 80 a family rig. That's why I want to do a full tube chassis next. Hopefully will keep me from cutting up the 80! The 80 being narrower than a burbon sealed the deal for me to head this way. I don't see to many guys over here doing what guys are doing to their k5's nowadays.

I don't like the windshield sprayers that are mounted half way down the hood. They just don't seem to work very well in snow /slush, well I just think they bring the suck. So I pulled the sprayers off of the donor Chevy wiper arms and adapted them to the Lc. I drilled a hole in the underhood firewall and put a grommet on it and ran the stock front sprayer hose through it to under the cowl. Then drilled some holes in the cowl for the sprayer lines to go through and put the sprayers on the arms. There are 2 on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger side. If you haven't ever used the chevy/GMC sprayers you don't know what you're missing!

Here is the 1 3/8" freeze plug for the egr block off. I did use some right stuff to make sure it's sealed in there. Also where I cut down the evap solenoid. Just filled the little bowl that was left with right stuff and put it back on. Neither are as fancy as what's available, but for under $1 they accomplish the same thing. And will be under the plastic cover plate.
