I need to remove my head liner for repairs to my Cruiser. Who has done this before without destroying the liner and what are the best steps?

The suspended cloth headliners in the 91-94 models are reputed to be very difficult to remove and best left to the pros.

I have done it, just go easy. Not hard but time consuming. Your glass has to come out though

the windshield and both rear side windows have to come out completely, the headliner cloth wraps around the same frame the window seals use to hold them in. like arcteryx said, it's not a bad job, just take your time. a couple of plastic wedges are great for walking the seal off the frames

is that the rear windows and windshield? If windshield has to come out can you just take most of it down except for the front around windshield?

Not if you want to do it right. The glass must all be removed. Good time to replace your windshield.

The glass has to come out!?
Sonofab*tch! That sucks.

Does anyone have pictures of the back-side of the headliner to see how it is held together?

@Golgo13 I removed one a few weeks ago, I plan on keeping it as a backup. I can get some pics of the headliner, but the truck is gone already.

@retrofive thanks for setting me straight :)

It is also better to do this job when things are nice and warm. Dealing with a cold suspended headliner is not a lot of fun. A pliable warm one is difficult enough.
