Hello, I recently purchased a 1992 HDJ81V in the US that is in pretty amazing condition with just under 65,000 miles. Vehicle has operated flawlessly, but I recently noticed a rubbing/grinding and have been told I need to do a replace on the rear-inner brake rotors and pads. The mechanic told me I might as well replace the calipers as well, so I have been doing some research on the parts. It looks like the previous owner already did a drum replace in the past and swapped them with disc brakes, so I think that might make things easier for me.

The threads I have found on here are really old and either don't give a definitive answer, or the part numbers/links are expired or removed, so I thought it might be good to start a more updated and recent thread on the subject.

Has anyone had some recent success with this swap and know what part numbers can be used? It's looking like the '92 HDJ81V can use U.S. parts from the later model 80-series (1993-1997), but I am wondering if there are any newer aftermarket pieces that would be more worthwhile to swap out instead of going the OEM route?

Any help would be appreciated, I am not very mechanically experienced. Thanks!

When you say "rear inner" are you talking about the parking brake shoes?
Recently replaced mine ('96 HDJ81) and everything I sourced was for a '96 US land cruiser.
Just picked my favorite brand pads and rotors and went at it. Fairly straight forward job
Best thing to do would be to inspect it and go from there. The noise could be anything really.
Also, unless you find the caliper sticking or leaking I wouldn't replace it but again you'll know when you get there.

It’s JDM and my closest dealership (Le Mieux in Green Bay) said they in fact can NOT order the parts, so I’ve been trying to learn more.
