I have to thin the herd; also an IHS employee so selling a little earlier than planned anticipating not being paid in case of an extended gov shutdown. Anyway...
The Good:
Lots on maintenance completed: big end rod bearings changed just prior to my purchase (approx. 10k miles ago- originals looked perfect, per local diesel mechanic). Timing belt recently changed, with sticker/pic for actual mileage. Front knuckles rebuilt with new wheel bearings -all oem/koyo. New front window felts/new pass. side motor.
Originally had full float rear being JDM, but upgraded to 1997 elocker front and rear and got the bigger front and rear brakes to go with; ABS blocked off on knuckles. Also has center diff lock.
Has all the cool JDM accessories like freezer/fridge console (works, but may need new switch- its sticky). Has altimeter/compass overhead console, pass side grab bar, retracting side mirrors, non sliding rear glass, etc.
New 285/70r17 MTZ tires with full size new spare -all mounted on 17" steelies- no spacers used and no rubbing.
OEM lift with current stink bug; plan was for heavy bumper/future accessories and the ass is light right now.
The bad:
Has rust spot on pass side rear door- only spot I'm aware of. Also, has damage to top of pass side fender and dents and dings associated with being a vehicle used for its intended purpose.
I replaced the front rotors with new Napa rotors and recently got a pulsing brake pedal indicating some warping. The vehicle/brakes have not been abused, its frustrating when you don't just go OEM.
Pics should tell the story, it has cosmetic issues inside and out. I am all about function and the mechanical side, so never got around to addressing these issues- price would be higher if I had.
There are simple things like the cruise control not working (common and replacement parts not available), but this is a very solid and completely trustworthy vehicle, imho. I have a stable full of fj40s or I would not think of selling. It has been my daily driver and has no trouble in all weather, but prefers the cold -would definitely benefit from future intercooler installation as the cold air brings noticeably more power. I have a lot more into this than I am asking, but cruiser karma has always been good to me and I would like this to go to someone who will enjoy it and continue to fix it up along the way.
I am located between Rapid City and Hermosa South Dakota. I'm currently working nights, so my hours are weird, please leave a phone number and give me a little time to get back to you, thanks. Also, have this listed on facebook, but I'm not proficient enough with it because I don't think messages are getting through between parties well. Price is $13,000, and I am firm at that number.
