Will this work for your application? I know you have that plastic trim over the needle so I moved the "km/h" up to the top as well.

Looks perfect! I'm getting pumped... so cool.
This is going to accelerate the need for me to finally open up and clean, re-lamp my cluster. Ha!

Hey man. I just need an address from you in DM so I can send you the overlays. These will adhere to metal being magnetic, just need to trim to fit the outer edge yourself. I have no idea what exactly your existing face will look like outer edge wise. I made two for two different options based on the placement of the "km/h" font.

Wow, I really appreciate this! PM sent.

Gauge cluster refresh coming up!

Squeezed in a bit more work on the Troopy recently...

Busted out the Spectrum. Thanks again to @c2dfj45 for sharing the information on all things secondskinaudio. I put in the damplifier first to augment the overall effectiveness of the Spectrum.

First I brush-painted several layers at the edges of the roof.

Then I rolled-on three layers for the rest of the roof.

The finished product.

Cleaned up my roof braces/cross bars and then gave them a rattle can repaint to top things off. The rest of the interior looks all the more dingy now.

You gonna do a headliner?
That is the long term plan. For now I have the thermal and audio insulation vastly improved… not to mention the rigidity of the roof. It’ll be awhile.

Nice,,, i assume you did this before you w/e trip, big difference?
I actually did this several weeks ago... and yeah, it's made a difference. I also recently got rid of the BFG KM2's and put on some Discoverer AT's... which also really helped. It's quieter now for sure.

I sprayed raptor on top of the spectrum on the roof of the 45. Personally I am not a fan of headliners. Another option. Tintable any color

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I frequently have 30 dirty fingers riding in the back seat... so I'm reticent to do anything too nice for a headliner. Tinted raptor liner is definitely an idea I've been toying with. I think I'll eventually raptor the floor, so at that point it may be a good idea to just do the roof as well.

How do you like the Cooper A/Ts?
On the road, I love them. Such a better ride than the KM2's. In fairness to the KM2's, I drove them with poor alignment for a bit and two of them ended up with uneven treadwear. My mistake. But from what I've read/seen elsewhere, they are known to get louder with wear anyway.

This past weekend I drove Cherry Creek Road in the Tonto National Forest... hit quite a few poorly maintained sections where it cuts through wilderness area (not FS maintained). I was 4LO crawling through some rocky areas to keep from bouncing around and hitting something. Had to pick my lines in several places. Not once did these tires let go on me... very predictable grip and traction performance. I was expecting them to be a bit of a regression from the KM2's in that regard, but I was quite pleasantly surprised.

I ran Cooper AT on my Tacoma, the Discount tire only tread version. Good tire but not tough, had rock blowouts on two tires two different times, switched to AT3 and much better tire, my son really likes the AT3 on his 4 runner.

I been running Toyo MT on the troopy, and I'm surprised how well mannered they are on pavement, so I decided to get Toyo AT on my Tacoma this round, I'm very happy with them.

I think Cooper, Falkon, Toyo, can't really go wrong with any of them

Good point on the distinction of AT vs. AT3 for the Discoverers. My new tires are the Cooper Discoverers AT3 (4S). My brother-in-law has been really happy with the AT3's on his 4Runner as well.

I have always been a BFGoodrich AT or MT guy because I think they look classic. But several people have mentioned the Cooper ATs over the BFG specifically.
I had BFG T/A KO2's on my 80-series in the Middle East... and the BFG KM2's on the Troopy. Both sets got louder with wear. Both sets also did a lot of chunking... fresh amounts of it observed after each trip with rocky terrain (not a frequent thing over the in sands I mostly played with on the 80).

They do look classic. And they aren't bad tires. But I've come around to thinking they are overpriced based on name for what is actually a mid-rate tire compared to many of the innovative designs out there right now.

I'll see how these AT3's do for me in the coming year or so... but was struggling on whether to go with the Geolander MT's that others (like @FJBen and @wngrog) have been praising. I didn't go MT because the KM2's were just so loud and I knew AT's would be quieter. If these don't perform, I'll give the Geolanders a try.

I hear good things about geolanders, my experience was terrible tread life, but that was first generation 25 plus years ago. Haven't tried the newer stuff

BFG always treaded me well, but that was back in the day when there wasn't alot to choose from, I mean, the Norseman set I had were kinda pricey and weren't ant better than BFG, and I had a set of Armstrong Kevlar tires that were ok. But when other tires started showing up on the offroad scene, and were darn good tires I was on to experiment.

One of my favorite tires were Parnelli Jones, had the PJ molded into the tread design.

Now I need a beer, I'm age depressed

Buying a new door is the ultimate fix of course, but I would weld it.

And can if you want.

Would you recommend this be done with TIG? Or is MIG fine? I've got a MIG setup I've been learning with... with a bit more practice I think I could do this. Unless TIG would be better suited somehow.
