Have been struggling with this for three days on and off. Nothing on line, even in the Toyota van tech forums. Trying to find the low side port to charge my AC system. I have found the stickers where it has been converted to 134a. I figured the stickers would be close to where it gets charged, which is under the truck in the front left-hand side. The only thing I can find is the red cap for the high side. Looked EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!

Since many of us may not know what these are, how about a few more photos of the engine compartment and areas around the AC compressor?

If you start at the compressor and follow ONE line until it goes all the way around back to the compressor.

One is on the high side and one is on the low side. If it has been converted to R134, then the fittings will be different from each other (assuming it was done "properly")

Also try to get clear, focused pictures. I have a hard enough time seeing my own stuff, let alone something I'm not familiar with.

Also, go to www.partsouq.com, enter the VIN of your van and it should pull up diagrams and parts for your vehicle. This way, you can find the AC and where the fittings are located.

Where my finger is pointing is the high and that’s underneath the passenger. In the second picture you can see what I believe to be the low up in a little cavity. It’s in the same area. It doesn’t have the 134a adapter there so I’m thinking there must be another spot. As you can see from the stickers on the first picture, it has been switched over.

I guess the other question is, can I throw an adapter on that other fitting? Can a system be filled from anywhere on the low side?

Yes, it can be filled from anywhere on the low side. If they did not install the adapter, then yes, you should install one.

I can't tell from where I sit if that's the same fitting from a different angle, so I leave it to you to actually find them.

I tried to search a diagram on Megazip, but it was too fuzzy to see. Go to partsouq and check theirs, they usually have high quality Toyota digarams.

Looks like a charge port with no R134A adapter on it. I have seen a few conversions where there was no way to put and use an adapter on because of the space available. On a couple "rigged" pieces of machinery I had to swap an R12 hose on my R134 A gauge sets to be able to charge the system. As requested by the owner. Not a proper method.

I told him to get a replacement hose made with a charge port in the hose for future repairs.

Good luck, I hope you get it figured out and be sure to post up your fix. Dead end threads suck.

Thx for for all the replies. So I added the 134a port to that low side fitting and added a can and the ac kicked in finally. Tightened a few belts and seems to be as good as new. There is very little on the Internet when it comes to these vans so it’s been tricky but worth it. I love this thing, only 38k miles. I do use those parts diagrams quite a bit but they weren’t helping in this instance. Thx again for the replies!

That's a great looking van!

Is that a mid-engine like the Previa?
