Picked up an 89 cressida yesterday to serve as a daily driver.

It is a one owner car by an older grandmother. Everysingle thing is original and it's extremely clean.

Anyways, here is my question. I push the open button to get to the climate control buttons and the unit wont slide out. Any hints for getting this to open manually, and is it a common problem for the motor to burn out?

I got figure this out b/c as of right now it wont let me turn the heat on...

Thanks

dang, thats a nice ride, i had a 84 cressida, loved it. but i wouldnt mind owning a newer one. i think they stopped making them in 93, i may be wrong.

sorry cant help, mine didnt have the push button climate control.

92 was the final year i believe.

and yea im amazed at how quiet and nice this thing rides. Looks similar to a camry on the outside but totally different inside. Should be a nice DD for now.

Everything is 100% original. headliner is perfect, leather is decent, original speakers all in place and sounds surprising good.

oh, and a followup for the whole purpose of the thread.

I went to get the tire rotated and balanced, came back and the climate control thing was out. i dont know if one of the techs knew how to do it, or if it just decided to work.

Either way, im not pushing it back in.

Although it is way past due, i'm trying to catch up on some of the maintenance on this car. I was going to get the BG tranny fluid exchange but was talked out of it by a service rep b/c the cressida has 220k miles and i dont know the tranny history. He suggested that if the fluid color looked somewhat normal and if the shifting wasn't acting weird then i should perhaps just leave it.

Do you guys think this is a bad idea?
